The world holds few secrets for Oracle Elana Anderson, or as her fans know her, Ela Deville. Successful author of paranormal romance, Ela, has a secret: not all her paranormal characters are quite that fictional. She hardly expected she'd trigger a chain of events that might bring about the end of the world via a pesky dragon. Rendered blind to visions of him, Ela’s only way to save her world is to keep the dragon close…very close.

Obitus, the only awake dragon in the Otherworlds, is determined to get back the magic that was stolen from him and secure his position for a good thousand years. Becoming Akai’s new guardian after getting rid of the current one is the best way to it. But that means getting Ela on his side. He’ll bargain and maneuver his way there if he has to, but ends up tormented by the desire to have her for real.

In a game of deals, half-truths and irresistible cravings, does one heart have to break in order for the other to save the world?

Guardians of the Otherworlds

In the Otherworlds Summons series, the seven different otherworlds each have a guardian who holds the magic key of that world within their heart.

Becoming a guardian means that creature will live a thousand years and hold the magic key of that world in their heart, giving it life and holding it alive. Once the thousand years are over, the ex-guardian will return to their mortal life and will be a normal creature. They aren't assigned any special powers to go with that honor, and aside lording over the borders between worlds and getting to decide if creatures from another Otherworld can cross the borders into their own world, they're not all that important on the scale of kickass.

When I built the world of the Otherworlds, conventional religion or belief systems weren't a factor I considered or used. Even if I do use angels/archangels and demons/devils in one world, Mira, they have no religious spin. They're fighters, ruthless ones in fact, and there's nothing more spiritual about them than any other creature of the Otherworlds. Each world has its own spiritual realm that contains their own brand of spirit entities - they can be invoked and used in the physical realm, so they're not merely apparitions.

The guardians aren't close to gods at all, more like jailers perhaps if you'd think of one world as a jailhouse. The guardian holds the keys to all the doors and it's by having keys that the jailhouse keeps on existing; the guardian opens doors, but they're not the ones to send you in, decide to let you out, or govern your life while you're there. They can't do magic tricks and have no superhuman power because they hold those keys. They're simply holding those keys safe - in our case, magic keys that merge with the heart of the guardian.

The one special thing guardians get is access to a Garden, a place built on belief magic that can never be undone or corrupted from its original form. In this Garden, that floats adrift in the seventh world, Panu - the world of emptiness, are most of the sleeping guardians. Because all except one (by the end of Dragon Craving) are asleep, trying to conserve the title of guardian forever. In a sense, the jailers are asleep so some creatures can run wild with those doors not being well cared for. Though guardians had decided initially to keep their worlds fully separated, the more time passes the more bridges are opened to bring all Otherworlds together.

Even so, their tasks would never change: to hold in their hearts the magic keys of each world, so that the magic of that world may never die. Because all worlds are built on magic, and without it what else is there?

Just Desserts by Barbara Bretton‏

Oh, how I hate bios! All of that deadly dull information about name (Barbara Bretton) and date of birth (June 25) and geographical data (born in New York City; lives near Princeton, NJ), marital status (many years married), and hobbies (who has time??). How do you gather up all of those dull, dry facts and turn them into something interesting?

No wonder I tell lies for a living.

I considered weaving a story for you about life on a houseboat on the French Riviera. Or maybe my years as a concubine, hidden away in a golden pleasure palace in the shimmering desert. Then I decided to do the unthinkable and tell you the truth.

When I sold my first book and my life changed forever. I sent in my manuscript on Thursday February 21, 1982 and four days later the telephone rang and I heard the amazing words, "We want to buy your book." How I wish you could have seen me. I was standing by the kitchen door of our North Babylon house, the picture of cool sophistication, as I listened to Vivian Stephens explain the terms of the deal to me. You would have thought I'd sold a first book every single day of my life. Yes, I said. Sounds wonderful. Thank you so much for calling. I look forward to our association. That cool sophistication hung on until I hung up the phone, took a deep breath, then promptly threw up on my shoes.

I was thirty-one years old, unagented, unschooled, unfamiliar with anything to do with the business of publishing. To put it mildly, I was in shock. My husband was working in Manhattan at the time (and finishing up his degree at night) so it would be hours until I could break the news to him. This was too exciting to waste on a phone call. I wanted to see his face when I told him that my dream had finally come true -- and came with a $6000 advance!

He pulled into the driveway at midnight. I was waiting in the doorway, holding a bottle of champagne and two glasses. I didn't have to say a word. He knew right away and the look of joy and pride in his eyes warms me now, years later, long after the advance faded into memory.

A lot has happened to me in the years since that first sale. I've learned that this is a difficult and demanding business (it takes a tough writer to write a tender book) and that I am happiest when I am most ignorant. I've also learned that a good friend, a writer and pal who truly understands, is worth her weight in good reviews and royalty checks.

I fell madly in love with Skye O'Malley in early 1982 and wrote an unabashedly gushy fan letter to our beloved Bertrice Small. By the time Sunny answered, I had joined the ranks of the published and Sunny became friend and mentor, guide and confidant. She has held my hand through broken dreams, disappointments, family illnesses, and accepted my bizarre need to go underground from time to time with great affection and understanding. Over the years I've come to understand the difference between the writer and her work, that loving the book doesn't guarantee that I will love the author. But what a joy it is when you discover that the author of a beloved favorite is even more wonderful and witty and wise than the characters she creates.

So this bio is for you, Sunny, for being the best of friends during the worst of times and -- even more wonderful -- during the good times as well.

Hayley had sworn off bad boys until Finn Rafferty set out to win her heart...

Once upon a time, Hayley had believed that a good woman (her) could turn a bad boy (her ex) into a knight in shining armor (pure fantasy). Ten years of marriage had finally drummed the truth into her head. In the real world bad boys didn’t turn into knights in shining armor. Bad boys grew up to be even worse men and the world would be a much happier place if little girls were taught that basic fact along with their ABCs.

Hayley Maitland Goldstein knew all about how these things worked. First a girl giggled, then she sighed, and the next thing you knew she was in Vegas taking her wedding vows in front of a red-haired Elvis with an overbite. You knew you had made a bad choice when Elvis slipped you his divorce lawyer’s business card while you were still shaking the rice from your hair.

But then Finn Rafferty came into her life and everything changed.

Hayley should have seen the kiss coming but it surprised her just the same. He had been looking at her with a crazy kind of unfocused intensity and she had been about to ask him if he was having a stroke when she realized she was about to be kissed by a man she actually wanted to kiss back.

Every now and then life handed you a perfect moment but the secret was figuring out how to make it last.

Book Trailer

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A number of things that all came together simultaneously and pointed me in the right direction. I’m a Food Network junkie and they’d recently launched a new show with Baltimore baker Duff Goldman and the crew of Charm City Cakes. He made amazing creations using blow torches and piping and all manner of weird things tucked in amidst the fondant and marzipan. I was completely sucked into the world of a master baker and started reading about the artists who made amazing cakes. Goldman led me to the queen of cakes, Sylvia Weinstock, and others and before you knew it, I had myself a knee-high pile of research information and a character, Hailey Goldstein, waiting for a story.

And boy did I have a story to give her. Not long before my father died, I discovered that his mother had been married three times, not two times as I’d always thought. And, surprise, surprise, husband #1 (the one I’d never heard of before) was my actual biological grandfather. Now how my family had managed to keep that a secret for over fifty years was beyond my comprehension . . . not to mention why they’d found it so important.

This meant my father might have had half-brothers and –sisters out there somewhere and that I (an only child, grandchild) might have relatives floating around waiting to be discovered.

That idea fed into an old fantasy of mine that one day there’d be a knock on my door and I’d open it to discover a long-lost brother or sister or cousin I’d never known existed and a world of family would suddenly drop into my lap.

So far that hasn’t happened, but I took my experience and gave it to Hailey when she discovers that she wasn’t a child of artificial insemination, but of a one-night fling between her brilliant professor mother and a young rock musician.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
About three months, give or take a week or two. This one was a delight to write. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I mean, cake and rock stars and dogs and babies and sexy love scenes. What’s not to like?

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
There’s something magical that happens when the story starts to click and the characters sweep in and take over. The flesh-and-blood world drops away and the only thing left is the world in your imagination. It’s a rush beyond description.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The empty longing when it isn’t working. The physical pain when it is. (There’s no pleasing writers, is there?) You’re either avoiding placing your desk when the words just aren’t there or you’re welded to it when they are.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Great question! I’d like to be Queen Elizabeth II. I want to know why she carries that purse with her everywhere she goes.

Joking aside, QEII has lived an incredible life. Her reign has spanned sixty years. She’s known all of the great women and men of our time. She is a living repository of secrets.

And, let’s face it, it’s great to be queen.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A Christmas mug filled with bacon fat. It’s tucked way in the back, up against the wall of the fridge, and I’m not sure why it’s still there. I don’t use bacon fat in anything. I don’t like bacon fat. My husband doesn’t like bacon fat. The only explanation I can come up with is that I poured it into the mug to cool down so I could safely throw it away and somehow it became a member of our family.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m bringing out more backlist titles in digital form for the first time and am currently working on a third book in the Paradise Point series, and a third book in the Shelter Rock Cove series.

Thanks so much for hosting my tour. I had a terrific time answering your questions.

Six of One, a Tudor Riff by JoAnn Spears‏

JoAnn Spears spent a lot of time trying to figure out whether she wanted to major in English or History in college. Life stepped in, and she wound up with a Master’s Degree in Nursing instead. A twenty-five year nursing career didn’t extinguish that early interest in books and history. It did however stoke a decidedly gallows sense of humor.

The story of the six wives of Henry VIII was JoAnn’s favorite piece of history. She read the classic variations and the feminist variations, the tragic spins and the vindicating spins. She witnessed the success of the pop culture, soft-core Tudor offerings of recent vintage. It occurred to her that the one thing that hadn’t been brought to a full length novel about the Tudors was a gallows sense of humor. The Tudors certainly qualified for it, and JoAnn had plenty to spare.

The first ‘real’ book JoAnn ever read was “The Wizard of Oz”. She returned to the Yellow Brick Road for inspiration for a new kind of Tudor novel, and “Six of One” was born.

“Six of One” was begun in JoAnn’s native New Jersey. It was wrapped up in her new Smoky Mountain home in northeast Tennessee, where she is pursuing a second career as a writer. She has, however, obtained a Tennessee nursing license because a) you never stop being a nurse and b) her son Bill thinks she should be sensible and not quit her day job.

While “Six of One” is a different kind of historical fiction novel, JoAnn is a downright stereotypical lady author. She admits to all of the cats, flower beds, needlework, and obsessive devotion to Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott that you’d expect.

“Six of One” is the ultimate ‘girls’ night in’…with the six wives of Henry VIII. It’s the most fun you can have with your nightdress on! Join Dolly, the Tudor-obsessed heroine of “Six of One”, on a Yellow Brick Road journey to the alternate reality of an all-girl Tudor court.

It all begins when Dolly loses consciousness on the eve of her marriage to the six-times-divorced Harry. She awakens in the company of the Tudor women she’s studied all her life. They have a mission to accomplish, and Dolly may be just the girl who can help them do it.

As a warm-up to her life-changing interview with the six wives of Henry VIII, Dolly gets to dish with lots of the other fascinating females of the Tudor era. She learns things she never guessed about the Princes in the Tower from their sister, Elizabeth of York…Henry VIII’s mom. She talks sex with Henry’s sisters and scholarship with his daughters. She even gossips with the help, since Kat Ashley and Bess of Hardwicke are among the ladies on hand.

Of course the heart of the story is in Dolly’s interview with the six wives of Henry VIII. It turns out there’s something to each of the wives’ stories that’s been held back all this time. You won’t believe what really happened…or will you?

“Six of One” offers no tragedy, no excuses, and no apologies. It does have lots of broad humor, not to mention tons of puns. And—for a change—a happy ending.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
It was important to me, when writing the story, to have Henry VIII’s wives emerge from at least one story as victors, rather than victims. Everything I’d ever read about them always came down to sad endings. I wanted to change that for once, even if only fictionally. Since my natural bent is toward comedy rather than drama, I chose satire as the way to do it.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Arguably, 40 years. The idea was swimming around in my head from the time I started reading historical fiction at age 13. As much as I love reading, I didn’t think I had it in me to write a book. Then, while sitting in a hot tub in Vermont one night with a friend who was writing a book of her own, I was talked into giving it a whirl. From then, it was about two years.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The characters. Writing about them is like birthing fully grown people. And you can bring them up the way you want them.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
I actually think I have resolved my least favorite thing about writing. Once a manuscript gets long, cross-checking things from opposite ends of the book means scrolling up and down a computer screen a lot. There were days the scrolling actually made me nauseous. My new laptop-only a few days old--has one of those new Windows touch screens, so I can leaf instead of scroll. I am very excited about this! #thelifeofawriter

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Louisa May Alcott. She was a writer, a nurse, a klutzy brunette, a smart-ass, a single lady, a reader, a devotee of the classics, a feminist, outgoing and shy at the same time. She is my home girl and I would love to spend a little time in her head.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I just gave my fridge its fall cleaning, so it is looking pretty good at the moment. However, my record-breaking old fridge thing was a box of currants. There is only one recipe I use currants for, Country Captain Chicken. So as you can imagine, a box can last a pretty long time. The box in question was discarded during a 2004 fridge cleanout. It was dated for 1997.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A second-generation Tudor sequel and a Tudor cookbook. Also, possibly, a guide for single women on retiring to the southern US.

On His List by Wendy Sparrow‏

Wendy’s childhood as a military brat instilled in her a wanderlust to travel, but with the possibility of bugs, lost luggage, germs, a lack of parking, she just prefers the cleaner and safer visits to exciting places in her stories. In addition to writing, she enjoys painting and sketching, spending time with her two quirky kids, and running with her dog. "Where can I take you, Mr. Savoy?"

That was how Remy Maison’s day began, not the glamorous world of guarding underwear from her creepy landlord on laundry day, but taking her brother’s place as driver for businessman Owen Savoy. And what was with this guy? Yeah, he’s hot and all, with eyes like melted chocolate and a lean, sexy figure she’d love to explore, but Remy’s never met anyone so rigid.

Owen has a list for everything. He’s planned the entire day down to the smallest detail. All Remy has to do is stick to the list, but she never follows the rules‚ there’s no freaking way. So why is she spending all her time looking in the rearview mirror, hoping she’ll make Owen’s next list?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A) Well, I love an opposites attract story. And I came up with Owen’s character, and I’m just crazy enough to want to see what would happen when you stuck an uptight list-loving guy with a free-spirited girl in a car all day.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A) Not long because once I’m excited about a project—I have trouble sleeping. I seem to remember I survived on a couple hours sleep for several days because I just couldn’t leave Owen and Remy alone.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A) The magic of escaping to another world for a few hours of every day. I’m one of the lucky people who has the opportunity to share my daydreams. It’s like passing on the magic.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A) I have OCD also…and that excitement about a project that I mentioned above…turns against me on the longer novels. I’ve gone two weeks sleeping two hours a night and spending fifteen hours in front of my laptop. I call it “obsessive writing” and it scares me. I’m always afraid I’ll go too far down the rabbit hole. Conversely, I’m afraid one day I’ll lose that drive and the stories will be stuck inside my head with no way to express them. Basically, I’m a weirdo who worries a lot about odd things.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A) The guy in the Edvard Munch’s painting “The Scream.” I’ve been stressed lately, and it’d be nice to stand on a dock and scream and have people be cool with it.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A) Hah! My husband gave me this one. My lightbulb. He says he hasn’t changed it for years.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A) I love to read novellas. I love being able to sit down and read something for a few hours and then still get the laundry done—or still get to sleep before five a.m. So, you can expect a few more novellas from a writer who loves to read them. I also have a few longer secret projects in the works.

TAKEN BY STORM
Opal Carew

Jessica doesn't like to take risks, but when she's almost run over by a red hot rock musician named Storm on his motorcycle, she realizes that some risks are worth taking.

About the Author:
Hi. I'm Opal Carew and I write erotic romance for St. Martin's Press and Samhain Publishing, and I self-publish stories. I also write romance as Amber Carew.

So why do I like writing erotic romance? I like being able to push beyond traditional boundaries. I like dealing with a female character who is growing and evolving - questioning her sexual boundaries and pushing past them. My stories usually include menage a trois. It is great fun to write a heroine choosing between two equally appealing heroes... or more.

These aren't women who just jump into bed with anyone. They find themselves in an unusual situation - something exciting and erotic - but a situation where they have to push themselves beyond their comfort level. As a result, they grow as a person. So often fear holds us back - of what others will think of us, of what we will think about ourselves - and we don't follow our hearts. These women push past that fear.

Keagan is a Hunter and happy with his current situation. He is single and his only responsibility is to his family and the realms as a Hunter.

Princess Seah, is the daughter of King Caspian and the most rebellious of all his children. Desperately wanting to be free to swim in the ocean and return to her beloved sanctuary, Seah defies her father's orders to remain in the castle. When she finds herself on the run from trackers from the warring kingdom of King Tahoe she swims for the only place she can think of... Hunter's Beach.

Keagan and his family of Hunters are celebrating on the beach when they see Seah swimming straight for them. Keagan braces for impact as Seah launches herself out of the water and into his arms as well as his heart. As the two become closer it appears that keeping Seah out of trouble is going to be Keagan's biggest mission yet.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
This story is the second book in the Hunter's series. When I started writing the first book, Gypsy's Dance, I never considered turning it in to a story until I met the brothers (The Hunters - Niko,Markus,Keagan, Kai and Lucian). After meeting them, I decided they all needed their own story.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Several months since the third book in this series - The Faerie's Rescue, which is Markus's story, actually ran concurrently with Mermaid's Sanctuary. There are lots of scenes that cross between books. It was the hardest thing I've ever done.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Creating worlds and people. I guess you can say I have a very fertile imagination.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The length of time it takes to complete a story. Sometimes I wish I could just snap my fingers and have my ideas appear on paper but I doubt it would be as rewarding.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Dean Koontz, definitely. That man is an amazing author and I would love the opportunity to spend a day in his head.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Hmmm... a bottle of Caesar Dressing but don't worry it's still good!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I am currently working on a new series that will debut in January. It's called Children of Kria and is about a group of immortal assassins. It's completely different than what my readers are used to but I think they'll love it anyways.

Come Little Children by D. Melhoff‏

D. Melhoff was born in a prairie ghost town located an inch above the Canadian-American border. He credits King, Poe, Hitchcock, Harris, Raimi, and his second grade school teacher, Mrs. Lake, for turning him to horror.

The Nolan morgue is more than just an ordinary funeral home.

When their newest employee uncovers a supernatural conspiracy connected to a string of child murders, she must use every shred of her intelligence to stop a new breed of serial killer and escape the morgue alive.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

Morticians fascinate me, and I’ve wanted to write something set inside a funeral home for a long time. Then I had this other idea about a conspiracy theory surrounding the Garden of Eden, and I thought: “Hell, let’s put these things together and see where it goes.”

Ultimately those two ideas led to Come Little Children, a horror/supernatural thriller set in the secluded town of Nolan, Yukon. It’s the story of Camilla Carleton, a young funeral worker, who moves in with a group of morticians and realizes there’s more to the family business than it seems.

 Q) How long did it take you to write?
Two years, part time.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The groupies. Definitely. I mean, who hasn’t thought about slapping a novel together for the perks of scantily-clad girls and Gatsby-like parties?

Otherwise, I’d have to say it feels pretty good seeing the finished manuscript on your computer screen. Yes, the final draft. That’s a close second.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The anti-social aspect. Sometimes I feel like Gollum, hiding away in the Misty Mountains and paying more attention to my preciousssss than my own appearance and personal hygiene.

My last job also had free lunch every Friday. I miss that.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Donald Trump. I’d golf all day (assuming I maintain his surprisingly high skill-level), take his jet to Vegas after dinner, and then cut off his hair right before midnight so that he wakes up in the morning completely bald, as he should be.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Do you really want to know? Fine. It’s a four-year-old pomegranate, and it’s more horrifying than anything Hitchcock, Poe, and King could come up with (combined).

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Currently I’m working on a summer camp horror story with a new twist. Nothing paranormal in this one, just a really sick (in the head) villain. Hopefully it’ll be out by the middle of next year, but no promises.

Thank you for the interview. Until next time, visit my website at www.dmelhoff.com and/or order Come Little Children straight to your Kindles or mailboxes from Amazon.

Timeless Keepsakes: A Collection of Christmas Stories‏

Lita Harris spends her time between New Jersey and the Endless Mountains region of Pennsylvania, where she writes most of her books. She also lived in Alaska for a short time just for fun. An avid crafter, unused supplies clutter her basement and attempts at making pottery, jewelry, and stained glass are proudly displayed in her house, usually behind a picture or holding a door open. She also makes candles and homemade soap. With enough books to stock a small library she may need to construct a building to store her literary obsessions.

She writes in multiple genres, including women’s fiction, contemporary romance, paranormal, and cozy mysteries. For more information about Lita, please visit her website at www.LitaHarris.com or at twitter.com/litaharris and facebook.com/litaharrisauthor.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
My favorite holiday stories center around family and tradition. It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie and I never tire of it. I wanted to write a story that captured the closeness of different generations and the importance of handing down traditions. That was my goal with Christmas Spirits.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Approximately five weeks. Most of the work is investing in the idea and characters, I can move onto writing the story once I have that worked out.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The creation of new relationships. I enjoy the discovery process and am often surprised to see what surfaces as I work my way through the story. Also, consuming ridiculous amounts of chocolate.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The result of consuming ridiculous amounts of chocolate.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
This is a hard question to answer and I thought about it for a few days. Hmm, I honestly cannot come up with anyone I would want to be. I’m happy being myself so I’ve never given it any thought to be someone else. Now if you asked who I would want to meet, I could give you a lot of answers.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Thanks for reminding me, I haven't checked in like forever. That shows you how often I cook. Upon a quick look I found a pint of white rice that is as hard as cement so it’s been in the fridge for a while, and soy packets, which I'm sure are still good, do they ever go bad?

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
My novella, Love at Christmas will be released by Sweet Cravings Publishing in early December 2013 and I have been asked for a sequel. I’m also revising and infusing more magick into my Donnelly women trilogy and have two contemporaries started, so I’ll be busy.

Firebolt by Adrienne Woods‏

I was born and raised in South Africa, where I still live with my husband, and two beautiful little girls. I always knew that I was going to be a writer but it only started to happen about four years ago, now I can’t stop writing.

In my free time, If I get any because Moms don’t really have free time, I love to spend time with friends, if it’s a girls night out, or just a movie, I’m a very chilled person.

My writing career is starting with Firebolt, book one with the Dragonian Series, there will be four books in total and two to three books that is about the stories taking place inside The Dragonian Series.

I do write in different Genres, I have a woman’s fiction called the Pregnancy Diaries, but it would be published under another name. And then I have a paranormal series, called the Watercress series. There are about ten novels in that one.

So, plenty of novels to come out, so little time.

I hope you are going to embrace the Dragonian Series as much as I loved writing them.

Dragons. Right. Teenage girls don't believe in fairy tales, and sixteen-year-old Elena Watkins was no different.

Until the night a fairy tale killed her father.

Now Elena is in a new world, and a new school. The cutest guy around may be an evil dragon, a prince wants Elena's heart, and a long dead sorcerer may be waking up to kill her. Oh and the only way Elena's going to graduate is on the back of a dragon of her own.

Teenage girls don't believe in fairy tales. Now it's time for Elena to believe in...herself.

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for having me here today.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A: I first started with a vampire series, well more of an aswang series, but the market was over flowed at that time, and I think it still is, so, I decided on doing a novel about dragons. I love, love, love dragon, and all my favorite novels inspired me to write this one.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A: This book? About 3 years. I started with it in 2009, had a baby in 2010, so the novel had to wait a bit, wrote four more drafts in 2011, join a writing group end of 2012, and finished it off in 2013 before I send it to editors. I ‘ve got about nine drafts in total.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A: The way you leave this world and enter the world you created, spend time with your characters and led them lead the way, everything just unfold as you start writing.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A: Revising, Editing, Query letters, Deleting really good scenes that slow down your novel. Deleting sentences you love because they just didn’t fit.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A: I know this is going to sound Cliché, but Stephanie Meyer. Reason, I just want to know how it feels to see your book being adapted into a movie. C’mon, which author doesn’t want to be her? To know that what you did, was perfect.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I’m a bit of a freak when it comes to food. Because I have two small girls, I usually don’t keep anything in my fridge after it’s expired. I think it would be a bottle of wine. Four months. I think.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Book 2-7 of the Dragonian Series.
I have the Pregnancy Diaries, a woman’s fiction, I like to get out there next year.
My Aswang Series, called the Zodiac Series, book one, Blaze, I would like to release somewhere next year too.
Book one of the Watercress series, it’s a Paranormal/mythology series for New Adults and it’s about Triton the sea god. I also try to get it out end of next year or beginning of 2015. So I do have plenty, just not enough time.

You can find me on facebook underneath https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Dragonian-Series/301375039891281 or Twitter: erichb3. I do have a blog fan site for the Dragonian Series if anybody wants to check that out: It’s http://thedragonianseries.blogspot.com. When I do release my other novels, their web pages and everything will be linked from this site.

Thank you so much for having me. God bless all of you and never give up.

Kind Wishes,

Adrienne

Some choices are hard to live with.

But some choices will kill you.

When seventeen-year-old Anna first meets Rakan in her hometown north of the Arctic Circle, she is attracted to the pulsing energy that surrounds him. Unaware that he is a shapeshifting dragon, Anna is drawn into a murderous cycle of revenge that pits Rakan and his clan against her best friend June.

Torn between his forbidden relationship with Anna, punishable by death, and restoring his family’s honor by killing June, Rakan must decide what is right. And what is worth living – or dying – for.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
R) The northern landscape of the Arctic that I fell in love with when I was 16.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
R) From the first spark of an idea in the summer of 2010 to final revisions before querying it, it took me about 18 months. And then, once I signed with Twilight Times Books in 2012, I also had several rounds of revisions and edits. So Dragon Fire wasn’t in its final form until early 2013, nearly 3 years after it was started.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
R) There are two things that I love equally. One, feeling the world I am creating come alive as I am writing the book. Two, and most importantly, when a reader e-mails me ‘I love, love, loved your book!’

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
R) Querying. Or writing a synopsis. Or maybe writing a query for someone who also wants a synopsis.
Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
R) Martin Luther King. So that I could understand how to inspire people to work together instead of fighting each other.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
R) Yikes! now that’s a scary question... hmm... *goes and opens fridge* the oldest thing in here is a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda. I never remember to write the date on it, so I actually don’t know how close to the three month change date I am. I suddenly have an urgent desire to go to the grocery store to buy a new one...

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
R) I am currently revising two different manuscripts. One is the prequel to Dragon Fire and the other is the first book of a YA sci-fi trilogy.

Thank you for the interview, Pembroke!

Tashndelu Sand has wandered the known universe on a mission of vengeance. She’s spent years tracking down the gang who murdered her mother. And, with the help of Snyder—a psychotic cyber-horse with an agenda of his own—she’s killed all but one: Brannigan.

Now she’s come to Paradise, a lonely town on a desert planet. Here, Brannigan rules with a new gang. Here, the graveyard is filled with the corpses of gunslingers who have tried, and failed, to kill him.

Get in, kill Brannigan, and get out. That’s the plan. And Tashn is determined to finish what she started. She’ll not be stopped: not by Brannigan’s army; not by her feelings for Johnny, an Extra sapien like her; not even by the darkness she sees in herself.

Elise Michaels' motto has always been: no guts, no glory. She is a thrill seeker, continually craving excitement and adventure. The idea of being tied down to a place or man never interested her, even though a betrothal spell was cast linking her and the Head of Council’s son when they were mere infants.

Being a distant third in succession to assume the Head Mistress role, she felt confidant that her secret would remain in her past along with Coven life.

Unfortunately, nothing in our fun loving heroine’s future is anything she or anyone from the supernatural realm is prepared for.

Now, she’s forced to return to the place and the Sorcerer she so desperately sought to forget.

Elise has no idea the power and gifts that await her. Can she let go of her own desires and embrace her new role? Or will she surrender to the faceless evil coming for them all?

Book one in the tantalizing Elise Michaels Series a spinoff of The Nephilim Warrior Series.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Honestly, Elise Michaels inspired me to write Coven. While writing the third book in the Nephilim Warrior Series (Blood Kiss) I knew she deserved her own series and so I gave her one.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I would say about two months to get the general concept of the story down then another few weeks to tie it all up in a neat little package. The words seemed to flow for this book and I'm finding that the second is following suit.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is that I get to escape into my own little world and simply explore. It's a total rush!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Editing and scene cutting is my absolute least favorite part of the writing process although I know that in the end the book will be a great deal better afterward, it still pains me. Thank God for my amazing editing team at C&D editing, those chicks keep me sane.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Oh my, what a question. I'll check… Okay, that would be a jar of strawberry preserves that I keep meaning to throw out and never do, thinking perhaps it will get eaten. It doesn't lol… Upon checking the expiration date I'm guessing it’s a year old or more. Embarrassing. It has now been thrown away.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I'm working on several projects for the coming new year; one is the first in my new YA series entitled Valkyrie Diaries. Unofficial blurb can be found on my website www.kayoungbooks.com

Behind the Story...The Appeal of Evil

My mind has a tendency to wander.  If given half a chance, I'll stare off into space and let my thoughts take me where they may.  One day, I was thinking about teen love and the process girls go through to find a boyfriend.  It was because of the Twilight series and Stephen King and the fact that he doesn't like the series and hasn't been quiet about it.  Technically, Stephen King probably shouldn't like these books.  They weren't written for him.  They were written for teenage girls.  He shouldn't be able to relate to what Bella is going through.  If he can relate to the experiences of a teenage girl, I'd be a little worried.  And curious.

As these thoughts were swirling through my head, I started to wonder why Bella found Edward so charming.  Why was she drawn to his "bad boy" attitude?  That thought then ventured into the idea that girls and women always seem to be drawn to the bad boy.  There is this idea that we can change them, make them better, and it is socially acceptable to get emotionally hurt going after this "noble" cause.

I smirked inwardly.  Why is this all right?  Why do nice guys always finish last?  What happens if the guy you're going after is really, truly evil, like from the pits of Hell?  What would happen then?

The light bulb clicked on, and I decided to explore that notion.  As a teenager, we know so very little about what it means to be in love or what it really takes to make a relationship work.  However, we have to start somewhere and learn and grow.  Katie is simply trying to figure out what it means to be in love.  She wants to be the center of someone's world, their reason for existing, and she wants to feel that way about someone else.  Haven't we all been there at one point in time?  Maybe at some point we found that with someone who was completely wrong for us.  But we were told that we could change them.  We were told we could make them better.

And, more than likely, we probably tried.  Maybe we were successful.  Maybe we weren't.  But along the way, we learned something about ourselves and love.  The bad boy can be incredibly appealing, especially when he's viewed as a challenge.  But "good" guys can be just as challenging, and the other point of the story is that "good" and "bad" aren't always clear cut and easy to recognize.  There are gray areas; ones that are confusing and full of hurt.  How do you cope with those?  The Appeal of Evil tries to answer those questions.

Katie wants to invest her heart and soul in love, but she may lose both to Hell.

Katie, a senior in high school, is torn between loving the “good” guy, her childhood friend Wes who makes promises he doesn’t keep and abandons her when she needs him the most, and the “bad” guy, the new kid at school, Josh, who is also a real demon from Hell. Katie wants someone who pays attention to her and puts her first, but what is she willing to give up to find him?

Firefighter Jamey Tucker knows three things in life to be true: an honorable man doesn't go back on his word; never hurt a woman; and lasting love isn't a myth. But with his recent move to a new job at Appleton Fire Station, the long hours don't offer hope of finding the love he’s looking for.

When Jamey meets beautiful pediatric nurse Heather Longhurst after hearing her sing Santa Baby in a supermarket aisle, he offers her a promise he discovers he can't keep. Heather has been betrayed by men in the past, making it hard for Jamey to gain her trust. Determined to find a way to win her heart, Jamey uses firefighter engine-uity and Heather's favorite song to prove he's got Christmas spirit she can believe in all year.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
When Entangled Publishing announced its call for submissions for Christmas stories based on the song Santa Baby, the Country music version by Taylor Swift came to mind. I love Country music and wanted to do something different with my tale, using a contemporary version of the classic recording. The lyric…a '54 convertible too… made me smile, since I drive a convertible. The verse sparked an idea for the plotline. The next thing I knew, I envisioned a firefighter, since I'd sold a story under another pen name to a firefighter anthology around that time. Jamey Tucker became my story hero.

After tumbling Santa Baby lyrics around in my head with images of a convertible and a firefighter, the story began to evolve. A pediatric nurse named Heather Longhurst emerged as my heroine and the writing flowed. SANTA TO THE RESCUE is the result and I'm happy to celebrate my new release with you.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
SANTA TO THE RESCUE seemed to flow from my fingertips to the keyboard. I don’t remember how long it took to write, but I do know the process was pure joy. This was one of those stories that just clicked for me. That rarely happens when writing; the process is usually filled with angst and bloodletting. When the story sold, I was thrilled.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Release day!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Waiting for those acceptance or rejections letters. It never gets easier.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I’d like to be a hugely famous author and feel the pressure and pleasure of rising to the top of the publishing industry.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
LOL! What a great question. I found some two-year old salad dressing in the fridge recently, and a bottle of soy sauce from who-knows-when. I’m usually very organized, though, and try to keep old food and clutter out of my house. Sometimes I succeed better than others.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m excited to be joining Boroughs Publishing for KISSING HER COWBOY, a Lunchbox Romance short story, to release January 10, 2014. I also have other manuscripts in the pipeline and hope to share news about them soon. I’m always writing and submitting.

Thank you for hosting me on your wonderful blog. It’s been a pleasure to visit with you!

The Keeper: Revenge by O.L. Ramos‏

From what I understand, the first line of this thing is where I say something really interesting that wins you over. After all, they say that you know within seconds of meeting a person whether you like them or not.

So...yeah... I got nothing. But if there is one thing I know, it's that through stories we discover the world, learn about history and traditions; and in doing that, we become who we are as an individual.

Since I was a very young child, my only dream was to become an author one day. I wanted to reach people with my words, maybe even entertain them. I wanted to touch their lives and give them something to think about. After all, I am a loveable blowhard kinda guy... that's gotta be entertaining, right?

In my life, I've done many things; from supervising sales for a retail giant chain to being a Deputy Sheriff. You would think that a person who had been shot at for a living would be brave enough to write a biography without all the sarcastic quips. Unfortunately no, that's one of my main flaws as the above mentioned blowhard.

Anyhoo, please feel free to drop me a line! If you loved the book, I wanna hear about it. If you hated every word of it, please make sure to let me know, but please avoid the CAPS LOCK! The font can be a little... demeaning. Make sure to have fun guys! They say you only live twice; and if that's true, we're at least half done.

If the world you lived in was someday revealed to be nothing but a lie, would you really want the truth? Elizabeth McBeth did, and she's paid the price for it...

After almost 10 years since Liz's mother was taken from her, Liz finally found her mother, Mary. But Mary has been forever changed, something that Liz will have to accept. The beginning of happier times, one would think...

The conspiracy has been exposed; Liz, Vincent, Mary and Michael had all thought that the vampire plot had been destroyed. They should have never underestimated Klein.

Klein has reinforced his armies, splitting the entire vampire species with the question... is Klein the vampiric messiah? Unfortunately for the heroes and the world itself, Klein has set in motion a plan that will destroy the world and recreate it in his own image.

Will the group be able to defeat Klein and restore the balance to nature? Or are they already doomed?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Originality drove me to write this story. I wanted something to be real to the lore, at least as close as possible. I also wanted to avoid the cliche and get as grounded in reality as possible. I also thought it would be kinda cool to make a race of super up, and throw it into the mix

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The books almost always write themselves. I don't try to pressure anything or make something happen. I sit down and write when the ideas start rolling out. I also really struggle to make the books great, so if it's up to me, I would keep the books and improve them. But if that was the case, they'd never be released! I try to not take longer than three months, but the first one took me almost three years to release, but only took me a month to write.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is that, for at least a little while, I can introduce people into my story. It's a world that's alive and has its' own rules. You got to respect the beauty of that.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
My least favorite thing is that when you want to make the characters real, they have to be real to themselves. So you have to watch out for the personalities the characters have developed. You have to stay true to their concept and beliefs. Last thing you want is to mess up the continuity.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Any famous person you say? Should I go for profound or shallow? Heh, this is a really tough question. If I was really going to have fun with this question, it would have to be a person in the modern day. No one wants to play a hypothetical and not have basic luxuries like plumbing and refrigerators. My answer is probably going to be REALLY weird, but whatever. I would probably be Gordon Ramsay. The guy knows how to cook incredibly well and has an empire that stretches across several continents. You gotta admire someone who has thousands of recipes memorized, and has so many Michelin stars.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Okay, so here’s the thing! I grew up very poor, so meat isn’t bad as long as its frozen. LOL, I know that’s terrible, but I have some ground beef in there that’s probably a year old. What can I say…? I hate seeing food thrown away. I’ve never gotten sick off of it, so that’s saying something.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I would hope to always be able to produce good books with interesting stories. My biggest goal I guess would be if I could make someone say "Hey, these supers COULD exist, and if they worked this way we would never know". Not that I believe in the old tales, but it is a fun thought, isn't it?

Waking up Dead by Emma Shortt‏

As a kid Emma wanted to be an astronaut, or maybe Captain Janeway. Because she didn't really think her career choices through very well she ended up in an everyday geek job, crunching numbers and sighing over syntax. It seemed a long way from the stars, and in an effort to escape Emma decided to get serious about her other passion. Writing.

Several years later and Emma has yet to walk on the moon or sit in the Captain's chair, but she is still writing. She scribbles stories in all sorts of genres, contemporary, paranormal, post-apocalyptic, historical, sci-fi...if she hasn't tried it yet she will before long. The only common theme is the romance. A hopeless romantic, everything Emma writes has a love story in there somewhere.

She lives on the west coast of England with her very Greek husband and teenage kiddos. Apart from all things geek reading is her main hobby and she likes nothing better than getting home from a hard day at work and curling up with a book, though sometimes she gets home and writes one instead.

You know your life has hit rock bottom when you’re living off cooked rats and showering once every few months—if you’re lucky. But for Jackson Hart things are about to get a whole lot worse. When her best friend, Tye, disappears hunting for food, kick-ass Jackson’s ‘head south to safety’ plan looks like it’s dead before it’s even begun. But then she meets ex-mechanic Luke Granger, who takes her to his bunker, feeds her with non-rat based food, and offers her protection against the zombie hordes—not that she needs it. She knows how to use a machete and isn’t afraid to.

Jackson was tempted to stay in the city with her rescuer. Food, shampoo and the possibility of finally getting laid, what more could she ask for? But the flesh eaters are getting smarter and the bunker is compromised, so Jackson and Luke have no choice but to make the journey south.

Luke and Jackson team up to find other humans in a road-trip romance for the ages. They travel for thousands of miles with zombies shadowing their every move. They must utilize every resource at their disposal…and then some. On the way, they discover that even if flesh eating zombies are knocking down their door, there’s always time for sex and even love.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I have a very weird relationship with zombies. In truth I have a phobia of them. I know that sounds really weird, but they both intrigue and terrify me, and have featured very heavily in my nightmares over the years.

So, I wanted to write a zombie book, thinking that it might help with my phobia. I sat down with the vague idea of a kick ass heroine and zombies as awful as I could possibly make them. Once that idea solidified everything else did. It would be a romance, the hero would be called Luke, and I would explore their journey as they tried to find safety from the zombie hordes.

The thing about this story is that it came out exactly how I imagined it to be. Not all my books do, sometimes I feel the final product does not match the story I had envisioned and I can’t work out why. But with Waking up Dead? As soon as it was finished it felt right.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took my about three months all in, which is quite a long time for me. I once wrote a book in a week, though I became quite ill afterwards! Thing is, I tend to become quite obsessive when I start a story and type away until it’s done, almost like it all has to come out before it disappears!

Waking up Dead was different though, both in terms of the way I had to write it and the content of the story. It’s the first in a four book series (End of Days Love) and events that occur in this book overlap with the other books. So after the initial obsessive start I had to slow down and start plotting things out. I found that quite challenging.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love the fact that I can breathe life in to the stories that exist only in my mind. I have a random thought, or an idea, and then it’s a story, and if I’m very lucky (and work very hard) it then becomes a book.

I’m still freaked out by that, the idea that people read something I thought up. It’s amazingly, profoundly wonderful.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
I’m not a huge fan of the pressure, and I should point out that the pressure is completely self imposed! I give myself ridiculously painful deadlines and have to fit those around my day job, kidlets and everything else that I do.

I also find negative reviews tricky. I’m there ranting at the screen…how can you say that, oh my God you totally didn’t get that at all…what do you mean you don’t like the heroine… But I am reminded of something one of my fav authors said. To paraphrase it was something along the lines of: once you have sent it out into the world it is no longer your book. I try to remember that!

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Oooohhhh… I think it would probably be Karen Nyberg. She’s not, strictly speaking, famous, but she should be. It always baffles me that scientists and inventors aren’t more revered in our society…but that’s a rant for a different day!

So Karen, well right now she is on the International Space Station, and that there is my reason. Growing up I wanted to be an astronaut soooo badly. Unfortunately my math wasn’t up to scratch despite my best efforts. To be up there, experiencing that, would be the fulfillment of a dream that is never going to leave me. As a side note I would totally want to wear my Star Trek outfit.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Oh wow I don’t even need to look to tell you! It’s a ham sandwich. I made it for my oldest teen’s lunch about two weeks ago and she still hasn’t eaten it! I’m refusing to make her another until she removes it from the fridge…so it’ll probably still be there come Christmas.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I have an Entangled Indulgence book, The Seduction Game, out in Jan. It’s quite a sweet story, I loved writing it and I’m super excited to be a member of the Indulgence crew!

For those that prefer their romance to be very steamy, my Club Smex series (contemporary erotic romance) releases at the rate of a book a month from the end of November into the New Year. I’m sooo in love with the covers which are up on my website. I also have the second book in my Alpha Collection, Seduced by the Very British Lord, out in Jan (Jan is going to be a busy month!)

Apart from that I am working on the second book in the End of Days Love series, Waking up Alive, a new contemporary romance series and a stand alone science fiction novel, as yet untitled.
