When the creatures of myth and magic return to Earth, they're nothing like your mother's fairy tales.

Most of Thulu and La Fi's clients are dead. Which is perfect since their detective agency caters to the supernatural. So, a job finding relics for an ancient daemon should be simple.

The daemon needs the relics to keep a dangerous portal closed. His enemy, Gabriel, wants the relics to open the portal and give his people access to a new feeding ground – Earth.

Stunning humanity with their existence, portals to other worlds begin to open and the creatures of magic return to Earth.

When Gabriel threatens their family, Thulu and La Fi's search becomes personal. They'll need powerful allies in the race to find the relics before Gabriel does. But maybe that's what grateful dead, magical allies and daemonic clients are for.

Thank you for having me on your blog today!

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A) This book actually grew out of the main characters, Thulu and La Fi. I used to play World of Warcraft and there were several people in our guild whose names began with “Moo”. This one couple especially was confusing and I thought I’d give them nicknames based on their in-game names. The result was Thulu and La Fi and when I saw the names, the characters were in my head saying, “No, we don’t belong to them. You need to tell our story!” I also wanted a heroine who wasn’t alone, but one who had a loving family and was happily married.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A) I wrote the first draft in five weeks. Of course, the subsequent drafts took over a year and included ripping out the entire second half of the book and rewriting it.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A) I love the entire process, but especially creating the characters. A carryover from Theatre.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
My lousy typing skills.  Seriously, I spend a lot of time fixing words with inverted letters. It makes me appreciate my dictation software even more. Not that I use dictation often, but at least it spells the words correctly.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A) I got this. Let’s see. I saw the answer to this the other day on a meme. Oh yeah, Batman. “Always be yourself unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.” Why? Well, obviously he has cool toys and who doesn’t want to play with cool toys? We seriously need a better female superhero, though. I could have picked from those, but most are just not my style. The guys get all the cool ones. So, um, yeah, Batman. 

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A) I’ve had a bottle of Homemade Kahlua in there for about a year. There’s only a little bit left and I keep forgetting it’s there.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A) I’m almost ready to submit Portals and then I’ll get into book 3, which I’m quite excited about. I’m a pantser and this series is going places I never dreamed it would. I can’t wait to really explore those places in Book 3.

Thanks again for letting me chat with you today.

Paranormal Properties by Tracy Lane‏

I was fascinated with the paranormal when I was very young. I always felt like someone was around me even when I was alone. It caused me to be inspired to write a paranormal book where a teenager can see and hear ghosts and actually makes friends with one.

I use to love to write short stories in school and always wanted to be a writer. But raising children and working jobs I just could not find the time to indulge my passion. Then my children grew up and I ended up having two teenagers at home who did not need as much attention from me. I started toying with the idea of writing once again. So setting aside 5 to 10 minutes per day to write at least one page I could end up with a book a year. Now Paranormal Properties is published and I have a list of 8 more books to write. I don't think I"ll be slowing down anytime soon.

Jake Weir, while on the set of his parents ghost hunting TV show, agrees to help a ghost investigate a 61 year-old murder.

Jake Weir is not like the other kids in Dusk, North Carolina. Then again, Dusk, North Carolina is not like other cities. Known as one of the most haunted cities in America, behind Salem, Massachusetts and New Orleans, Louisiana, Dusk is ground zero for Jake's ghost hunting parents.

The Weir family has arrived in Dusk eager to scope out some of the town's 127 reported "paranormal properties," which just happens to be the name of their own ghost hunting show: Paranormal Properties. What Jake doesn't know, and what his parents could never imagine, is that Jake can see ghosts! And hear them. And talk back to them! This talent comes in handy when he runs into Dusk's oldest, most famous ghost: one Frank Barrone, a one-time lounge singer made famous by his booze-soaked ballad, "Barroom Eyes."

Frank was gunned down by a local mobster in 1951 and has been searching for his killer ever since. When he learns that Jake can see and hear him, Frank makes young Jake a deal: if Jake will help Frank find his killer, Frank will help his parents find a ghost to film for their upcoming Halloween Special on Public Access Channel #319. Jake enlists the only friend he's made in Dusk, an overweight tomboy nicknamed "Tank," to help him track down Frank's killer. As clues emerge and old leads heat up, Frank and Jake learn they make quite a team. But will Jake find Frank's killer? And will Frank find a real haunted house in time for Halloween?

“Paranormal Properties is a great, family-friendly Young Adult novel about a boy who can talk to ghosts. Equal parts Scooby-Doo, CSI and the Hardy Boys, you will enjoy getting to know Jake, Frank and Tank as much as I did. Now, if only ‘Paranormal Properties’ was a real show I could watch on TV every week…” ~ Rusty Fischer, author of Zombies Don’t Cry

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I have always loved the paranormal. I wanted to write a story about a kid who could see and hear ghosts. Then I came up with the idea of making his parents ghost-hunters. After that the story became fun for me to write.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took me about 6 years to actually get it written completely. I just did not have the confidence to get it down on paper. I thought there is no way I can be a writer, even though it was my life-long dream. After about 5 years of trying I decided to take it one page and one day at a time. That actually worked for me.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Creating different worlds for people to escape too. That is why I love to read. Escaping reality is something we all need at times.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Trying to get it perfect. There are times I am not sure I got the exact idea I have down well enough for others to know what I mean. Thank God for editors.

 Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
There is no one I’d rather be than me. But if I had that chance to be someone famous I would be Betty White. I think she’s had a full and exciting life!

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A can of cranberry sauce. It keeps getting pushed to the back of the fridge and I think it’s been in there about 6 months. I need to go check the expiration date again.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
More books! I am now working on Entwined Courage and it is much easier to write than Paranormal Properties. I think it’s because I am now broken in as a writer and the story just seems to flow out of me.

Cover Reveal: Dawn's Early Light‏ by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Philippa has always had her head in a book. For this she blames her father who thought Lord of the Rings was suitable bedtime reading for an eight year old. At the age of thirteen she began writing fantasy stories for herself.

She first earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Political Science and then a Bachelor of Applied Science in Library and Information Science. So soon enough she found herself working in the magical world of libraries where she stayed for over a decade

Her first professional sale was in 1997, and since then she has gone on to produce mostly novel length fiction. In 2006 she became New Zealand’s first podcast novelist, and she has voiced and produced Weaver’s Web, Chasing the Bard, Weather Child and Digital Magic as podiobooks. Her podcasts have been short listed for the Parsec Awards, and won a Sir Julius Vogel award.

Philippa is the author of the Books of the Order series with Ace- Geist and Spectyr and Wrayth out now, and Harbinger to follow. She is also the co-author of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series with Tee Morris. Phoenix Rising debuted in May 2011 and The Janus Affair came out in May 2012. She also has the Shifted World series with Pyr Books, with the first book Hunter and Fox out now.

When not writing or podcasting, Philippa loves reading, gardening, and whenever possible traveling. With her husband, Tee and her daughter, she is looked after by a mighty clowder of three cats.

Tee Morris began his writing career with his 2002 historical epic fantasy, MOREVI The Chronicles of Rafe & Askana. In 2005 Tee took MOREVI into the then-unknown podosphere, making his novel the first book podcast in its entirety.

That experience led to the founding of Podiobooks.com and collaborating with Evo Terra and Chuck Tomasi on Podcasting for Dummies and its follow-up, Expert Podcasting Practices for Dummies.

He won acclaim and accolades for his cross-genre fantasy-detective Billibub Baddings Mysteries, the podcast of The Case of the Singing Swordwinning him the 2008 Parsec Award for Best Audio Drama. Along with those titles, Tee has written articles and short stories for BenBella Books’s Farscape Forever: Sex, Drugs, and Killer Muppets, the podcast anthology VOICES: New Media Fiction, BenBella Books’ So Say We All: Collected Thoughts and Opinions of Battlestar Galactica, and Dragon Moon Press’ Podthology: The Pod Complex.

Tee bought all these skills to the award-winning Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series which he wrote with his wife, Pip Ballantine. When he is not writing, Tee enjoys life in Virginia alongside Philippa Ballantine, his daughter, and three cats.

Working for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, one sees innumerable technological wonders. But even veteran agents Braun and Books are unprepared for what the electrifying future holds…

After being ignominiously shipped out of England following their participation in the Janus affair, Braun and Books are ready to prove their worth as agents. But what starts as a simple mission in the States—intended to keep them out of trouble—suddenly turns into a scandalous and convoluted case that has connections reaching as far as Her Majesty the Queen.

Even with the help of two American agents from the Office of the Supernatural and the Metaphysical, Braun and Books have their work cut out for them as their chief suspect in a rash of nautical and aerial disasters is none other than Thomas Edison. Between the fantastic electric machines of Edison, the eccentricities of MoPO consultant Nikola Tesla, and the mysterious machinations of a new threat known only as the Maestro, they may find themselves in far worse danger than they ever have been in before…

Right now Pip and Tee are also running a Kickstarter for a brand new anthology and a roleplaying game set in the world of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences. Check out the project here http://bit.ly/ministry-initiative

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

A) This is the 8th book of my “By Moonlight” shape-shifter series and events in New Orleans were about to bubble over. I’d gone as far as I could go without returning to the original two main characters so I took a break, branching out to do some exploring within the Shifter world by introducing the rival Terriot clan of Nevada. My heroine had a cameo in HUNTER OF SHADOWS and BETRAYED BY SHADOWS and I felt her self-sacrificing return to the restrictive and dangerous Terriot fold in order to protect her family deserved some recognition. I’ll have to admit, I loved the change of scenery from the steamy atmosphere of the bayou to the crisp isolation of Lake Tahoe, and the chance to put a different spin on the brutal warrior clan and its strutty, tattooed, rock and roll prince.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A) I had a blast from page one to page end for almost three months. Then came the trimming of over 100 pages—always a painful process, which took another few weeks. A pretty good turn around and in to my editor by deadline.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A) The creative process. I love gathering the pieces of character, plot and setting and weaving them into an imaginary world where I can lose myself for several months at a time. It’s all about the writing. It’s a mental vacation for me. Everything else—like getting paid to do it—is a bonus.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A) The business of writing. Who knew? I sure didn’t when I was scribbling frantically toward publication. And now, with social media, there’s a mountain of it. I enjoy the speeches, blogs, Facebook, tweeting, etc., but once a book release is over, I’m totally brain drained and can’t wait to get back to the quiet of 5:00 a.m. with Keurig coffee and chapter one of a new project.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A) I’d like to be that person who discovers the ultimate cure for cancer so I can come back to pass on a message of hope, preferably in the very near future.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A) I found something crouched and withered in the back of the veggie drawer the other day. Not sure what it was in its glory, but think it’s probably from the Cretaceous period. I did have a can of crushed pineapple explode in my cupboard that was from the early ‘00s! I hope I’ll be able to hold my age better.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A) More of the “By Moonlight” world, I’m hoping. I just got the rights back to 20+ books from my Dana Ransom backlist and BelleBooks will be reissuing four of my contemporaries in 2014. I’m actively searching for good homes for my historicals. I’m also tinkering with a historically set young adult paranormal series. There’s always something on the burner.

Blood Lust by Charity Santiago‏

I first discovered the world of self-publishing in February 2011, when my 7-month-old son was admitted to the hospital with severe respiratory issues. During his stay in the hospital, I tried to keep us both entertained by downloading several books on my Kindle and reading them out loud.

I read a number of self-published books and realized that I had an opportunity to share my writings with the world. I soon decided to quit my full-time job in the insurance and financial services industry, stay home with my son and write. It was the best decision I've ever made. My son's health has improved drastically, and I've never been happier.
I prefer to read and write YA fantasy, romance, and paranormal romance. The next book in my Rapid City Wolves series, “Blood Oath,” will be released for Amazon Kindle on June 1, 2013.

Eve came to Rapid City to escape her parents' messy divorce, but what she finds in South Dakota exceeds her wildest dreams- and nightmares. After Eve is attacked by a wolf outside her grandmother's house, she stumbles into a new and frightening existence as an alpha werewolf. Fated to lead the pack and obligated to choose a beta to lead beside her, Eve still cannot bring herself to forget Jericho, the mysterious vampire who saved her life. Will the wolves force Eve to choose between her destiny and her soulmate?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A: It took me a long time- two years- to come around to the idea of writing a book that featured vampires and werewolves in a prominent role. I had to reconcile my ideas of already-popular books and movies, like Twilight and Underworld, with my vision for my own books. It was really the market that made me decide what direction to take with this story. I know readers out there- myself included- are dying for more vampire and werewolf fiction, and I decided to write my own series.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A: Blood Lust actually only took six days to write. That was with a solid six to eight hours a day of writing, and of course the fact that I’d outlined and storyboarded all the scenes beforehand helped immensely. With outlining, storyboarding and editing included, the time spent on Blood Lust was about three weeks total.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A: I’ve learned to truly enjoy the writing process, but I get such a sense of accomplishment every time I finish writing a book. I’m a bit of a procrastinator in my life outside writing, and I often start projects that I never finish, but books are where I can focus my time and talent and know that the end result will turn out exactly the way I want it to.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A: This changes on a daily basis! Right now, my least favorite thing about writing is trying to accept bad reviews and keep a positive attitude. Bad reviews are inevitable- there will always be someone who didn’t like your book. I had a real tough time dealing with bad reviews until a fellow author told me to go take a look at some of the reviews that bestselling authors receive for their books. I checked out a couple of Dan Brown’s books on Amazon, and realized that he gets eviscerated on a daily basis by reviewers! Although you should always listen to constructive criticism and try your best to perfect your writing, it’s important to keep perspective regarding bad reviews: some people will just never be happy, and some people will read your book even though it’s clearly not in their preferred genre. Although I’ve learned to deal with the negativity, the fact that I have to deal with it at all is definitely my least favorite thing about writing.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A: I recently read an interview with Robert Downey Jr, and was struck by his confidence. I should probably call it arrogance, actually, because his attitude careened right past confident into egotistical. All the same, I think it’d be nice to be him for a day, and experience just a sample that confidence/arrogance/egotism. I get awfully tired of second-guessing myself!

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A: I answered this question once before, and the answer is still the same! I’m not sure why I keep the tubes of icing from Christmas cookies year-round, but at this point it’s almost like a family tradition. I’d hate to put an end to it on account of a minor issue like hygiene. Haha!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A: Right now I’m working on Blood Oath, the sequel to Blood Lust. After Blood Oath is released on June 1st, I plan to start writing a young adult urban fantasy series that I’m very excited about. But I’ll also definitely be putting out the third book in the Rapid City Wolves series later this year.

Sophie doesn't believe in happily ever after. These days, she'd settle for alive after sunrise.

Advice columnist and newly-appointed oracle to the demivampire, Sophie Galen has more issues than a Cosmo collection: a new mentor with a mean streak, a werewolf stalker she can't shake, and a relationship with her ex's family that redefines the term complicated. And then there's her ex himself, who is more interested in playing leader of the vampire pack than in his own salvation.

Becoming a better oracle is tough enough, but when Sophie encounters a deadly enemy - one she never dreamed of facing - it will take everything she's ever learned in order to survive.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A) This book is the second in a series so, technically, the first book inspired it. : ) The first book was inspired by a dream I once had; this book was inspired by the characters themselves. Very convenient, wouldn't you say?

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A) This story was written in two stages. The first stage, which involved about 75% of the book was actually penned simultaneously to the first book (Bleeding Hearts). As I edited book one, queried agents, and sent out to contests, I would dash over to book two to write the continuation. It's hard to say exactly how long that stage took, but if I had to guess I would say about a year. The second stage, and remaining 25%, took four weeks. That was because I had a contract and a deadline. It's quite a motivator.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
A) My favorite thing is the complete autonomy I have. My worlds, my creations, my rules. I feel absolutely limitless. Every once in a while a character will try to have their own way but, in the end, I'm the one at the keyboard.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A) Not having enough time to do it. I'm a full-time pharmacist and over-time mom--lots of hands on my time.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A) Billie Piper, because she got to be the Companion of not one but TWO Doctors. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and I personally believe Billie Piper is the luckiest woman on the planet. Catherine Tate is a close second because not only was her Companion Donna truly noble, but also because I love the Catherine Tate Show. Her Jumpy Margaret sketches are sheer brilliance.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A) Homemade grape juice. I pick grapes at my Pap's house and jar the juice myself. The jar in there is still sealed--so it's perfectly okay to drink--but the label on it says 2006 and my daughter isn't willing to give it a try. It's like wine without the alcohol, I tell her. I WAS SIX, MOM she yells back. Eighth graders are so moody.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A) The third book in the Demimonde series, WOLF'S BANE, is due out in 2014. Once that is completed, I'll be getting back to work on my paranormal romance WORDS THAT BIND. I'd like to do another novella for The Wild Rose Press, and I'm kicking around two ideas for that project. Other novels in the work include two New Adult stories TAKIN' IT BACK and FACE OF THE ENEMY. Who knows what else will come up between now and then?

Chapter excerpt: http://twilighttimesbooks.com/Lucid_ch1.html

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I daydreamed this story idea while riding in my car maybe five years ago and then one day, years later, I just sat down and started writing it. It deals with empathy and the struggles of everyday people- maybe I felt there was a need in the world at that moment and that’s why I sat down and started writing.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
That’s a hard question to answer since I had to re-write it so many times, but the initial draft probably took about eight months or so, I guess.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Dialogue! Daydreaming fights and love scenes and then putting them down on paper- doesn’t get better than that!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Editing!

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Probably one of the voices on a hit animated television series. You get the money, have a fun job, but maintain a certain level of anonymity. I experienced a certain level of fame as a local media celebrity and the “fame” aspect of certain jobs is not nearly as fun as people imagine it to be. It’s really quite isolating.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Yogurt is one of those healthy items you always pick up and intend to eat, but ends up sitting there a really long time.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m about halfway through an adult psychological thriller called Beneath Them. It is about a young man with schizophrenia who moves into the crawl space under the home of a happy, young suburban couple.

Thank you so much for hosting me! I also wanted to mention that a portion of every dollar I make on this book will be donated to anti-bullying organizations. Anything anyone could do out there to help me spread the word would be wonderful!

Moonlight: The Big Bad Wolf by Victoria Danann‏

If you're looking for something new and different in PNR, you've come to the right place.

I write unapologetic romances with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners - usually - whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

My first book, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by the Reviewers' Choice Awards. Each of my books has remained on the Amazon best seller list in category every day since release. All three also earned the Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK award.

My work has been compared to J R Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Lara Adrian. For example:

"I do see shades of Lara Adrian's Breed books and shades of J R Wards Black Dagger books, but this story is unique enough that it stands out all on its own and can stand up along side those other books and I think given time will elbow them out of the way with the rich story telling and deep emotional core that makes you want to know more." - Kerry, Musings of a Bookworm

While working on her studies at the Churchill Military Academy in Kinsburgh, England, Jolán Vajnbirg’s final year at the academy develops into a year of competition, aristocratic love, reincarnated spirits, and a calling from the sky world to help save earth from the death and destruction caused by the order of the hunters.

Jolán Vajnbirg is an often reserved, yet occasionally outspoken young woman living in Kinsburgh, England. She has a relatively easy life living in her quiet England town. She has a full-ride swimming scholarship to the Churchill Military Academy. She has a strong mind, she has an athletic body and she has a loving family and caring friends. Even though her family has a modest income, Jolán makes the best of her situation and excels at anything she puts her focus towards.

The sky world is steadily preparing Jolán for her future fate. Jolán will need her friends to help her battle the order of the hunters. The hunters have upset the universal balance of earth, and the hunters have upset the sky world.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I guess a little bit of everything; my dreams, my life experiences, and my imagination were all a catalyst for inspiration. During story development, I did think through a few story lines; but I was unsure in which direction to take them. I knew I wanted to write a story about reincarnation, so I decided to focus on a build-up to that part of the plot.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I dillydallied a bit when I started, but I developed an urgent need to finish the book quickly. I finished the book in roughly four-months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I enjoy the word play, the detail and the dialogue. Creating a story from scratch, doing the research, and then writing the book is a process I take joy in doing.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Sometimes, I find starting a chapter hard. I have sat in front of the computer for over 30-minutes trying to decide on a direction. I also take breaks when I am trying to make a bridge to another area in the story. I want to make sure the story flows well for the reader.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Picking one person is difficult, but I pick Jane Goodall. She has contributed an enormous amount of researched information on primates; and her experience with living in the wild is something I would like to live through for a day.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Vegetable soup. Possibly, eight-days old.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I have the second book in the Element series, The Gypsy Hunter, scheduled for a summer 2013 release date. Once the Hunter and the Queen series is finished, I am going to write a mystery.

Thank you for hosting my work.

How can you escape the ghost of yourself?

The Leigh family is terrified. They’ve been haunted by the ghostly image of their young daughter, Selena. But how can that be, when Selena is alive and well, and as frightened as her parents?

With nowhere else to turn, the Leighs place their hopes in Jessica Backman, who has dedicated her life to investigating paranormal activity.

Accompanied by a new partner who claims to be able to speak to the dead, Jessica will soon encounter an entity that scares even her. And a terror far worse than she imagined.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I’ve been fascinated with ghosts and the paranormal for as long as I can remember. I’ve even been lucky (or some would say unlucky) enough to have had my own encounters with the strange and unusual. In fact, my family currently lives in a house that is also home to a spirit boy who makes his presence known when my wife is ill. There is no history of children dying in the house or the neighborhood. He’s here and he’s, for now, an unknown.

After I finished my first novel, Forest of Shadows, I wanted to take the character of 6 year old Jessica and see how she would be 13 years after her father was murdered by a vengeful spirit. Would she take on the “family business” of being a ghost hunter? If she did, would she be like her father, who was sensitive, neurotic and riddled with anxiety, or the polar opposite? Both books are about emotionally damaged people and how they focus their lives searching for answers that can only be found beyond the veil of the living. Sinister Entity (and the free story that precedes it, The Graveyard Speaks) is the start of an ongoing exploration of the paranormal with Jessica and how it relates to her own broken heart.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I worked on Sinister Entity off and on for a little over a year. I had started it just after I struck the deal for Forest of Shadows, but had to put it on hold to polish another manuscript for my publisher. Once I cleared the deck and made it my top priority, the story just poured out of me. I wrote the last 30 pages in a marathon session just after Christmas in 2011. When I was done, I was exhausted, but very satisfied.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Just letting my mind run free. I’ve been told I have an overactive imagination since I was a kid. Now I get to put it to good use. I’m not big on outlines, so I love just letting the story flow and dictate where it needs to go. I’m always surprised by what I do to characters and plot points. It’s as much fun as it is hard work. If I had a choice between sitting on a tropical beach with a cold beer or sitting in a room writing, I’ll take the room.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
I used to say it was editing, because I go through quite a few rounds before I say a book is fit for human consumption. But lately, I’m starting to enjoy that, too. The hard part is when you’re midway through a 90,000+ word book and you get that mid-novel drag. You just have to keep pushing, reminding yourself of the writer’s high you get when you type THE END.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
David Wright, third baseman for the New York Mets. If I couldn’t write (and was younger and more talented), I’d want to be a baseball player. Wright is an amazing athlete playing on my favorite team. Plus, folks call him Captain America, and I’m a huge fan of the comic character. So much so that I have a tattoo of his shield.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
My wife’s corsage from our wedding. It’s been there for 21 years now. There also may be some year old hot dogs lurking in the back, but I’m too afraid to look.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A lot! I just signed a deal for a ghost novella based on actual events that may be out later this year, early next. I submitted my next novel to Samhain that is slated to be out next summer. The book is set in Wyoming in 1905 and I basically threw the kitchen sink into that bad boy. There will also be some big news about a couple of other novels that will be out in paperback in the future. And somewhere in the midst of all that, I plan to release a book of short stories. You can watch me bobbing and weaving on my website, www.huntershea.com. Come on by and stay a while!

Soul Mates by Sandy Wolters‏

I’ve been an avid reader for years. To my husband’s dismay, I have bookshelves full of books, rooms full of books, boxes full of books. My cars have books in them. I just can’t seem to get rid of them after I read them. You just never know when you will want to read it again, right? When my husband bought me a Kindle, it cut down on our need for storage, but it opened me up to books that I might never have experienced otherwise.

The biggest transition in my relationship with books occurred, however, when I, much to my surprise, became an author. I had started having dreams about people I didn’t know. I started looking forward to my dreams every night. Then I realized that I was daydreaming about these people as well. I'd just be sitting there, and these people and their antics would pop into my mind. Finally, I gave in and began writing their story down, something I had never dreamed of doing.

After I wrote my first book Maggie Mae, I had do idea what to do with it. After trying the traditional route for a little while, my husband pushed me in the direction of ebooks, and I’ve never looked back.

My books invariably feature strong women. My husband, Michael, and I have raised two strong daughters, Pilar and Shandelle, and they inspire the characters in my stories. As a matter of fact, Pilar was the main character in my book A Brother’s Love, and Shandelle is the main character in my new release Soul Mates. Justice for Emily was the most difficult book I’ve written, and that was because Emily was the victim of a sadistic, cruel, and abusive husband, who just happened to be the Chief of Police. One of my readers described this books as a “good mystery laced with sex, violence, ghosts and spirits.” The only thing her summary left out was the strength of the two women in this story: Emily and Rachael.

I’ve had fun with all the books I’ve written. I think the fact that I insert real events into my books, things that have actually happened in my family’s lives, is like having a private joke. Knowing that Michael Rogers in Maggie Mae is based on my husband tickles my fancy. I am a very lucky woman!

Although I write romance novels, they always contain a paranormal twist. My latest, Soul Mates, has the added element of time travel accomplished through the magical arts. I imagine my future writings will always contain romance with strong women and men of character, influenced by events that reach beyond what we consider normal, and perhaps seasoned with a little touch of whimsy.

Pulled Back Through Time, Shandelle Is Caught Between An Enduring Love And A Wizard’s Magic.

In the beginning of time, one soul splits into two. Lifetime after lifetime, the two souls are reborn and seek to reunite. Like a beacon of light from heaven above, their light shines for each other. Without the other, there is only darkness. A wonderful blessing that can only come from a deeply-bonded love, the sharing of one soul can also be a black curse if something disrupts the moment of their coming together.

Ireland 1323 - Donovan, chieftain of the Clan O'Brien, has unsuccessfully searched his entire adult life, to the detriment of his clan and all those around him, for that elusive possession that will bring his soul peace. He doesn't know what it is, but he will give up everything to find it. One day, he is summoned by the Wizard and told the secret of his obsession—his soul mate. She is no longer living in his time, but there is a way to bring her back to him.

Phoenix 2013 - Shandelle and Ian are embarking on their new life together. She is everything Ian ever wanted but never realized he needed before he met her. Shandelle is a generous soul who lives to make Ian and everyone around her happy. Unfortunately for them both, evil is stalking them. The blood bond duty of a close friend brings betrayal and evil into their lives. How were they to know that the death of a six-year-old girl in the early fourteenth century could have such grave consequences on their lives today?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

My husband, Michael, is the inspiration behind Soul Mates. I was in bed at that point right before sleep and thinking about how lucky I am to have such a wonderful man in my life. We were high school sweethearts and we'll be married for 35 years in September.

We're one of those couples that always seem to know what the other is thinking. I started to wonder how many other lifetimes we had spent together to have such a close, loving bond in this lifetime.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Soul Mates is really quite different than anything else I've written. I worked on it off and on for a period of about two years. This is a time travel romance and it was so important to me that it flowed from current time back to the early 14th century easily. I knew I could potentially ruin the story that I truly loved if the time transitions were not done properly, so I really took a lot of time with it.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My very favorite thing about writing is the freedom it gives me to open up my creative side and write a story that I hope will take people on a journey and let them have a fun vacation from their daily hassles. I know, as a reader myself, that one of the best parts of my day is picking up a good book and getting lost in it.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
When I had my first conscious thought about becoming an author, I didn't realize how many hats today's authors wear. I would love to sit at my computer all day and just write. I have so much fun doing it but after the book is done, the hard work starts. Since I made that decision to become an author, I've also become a web designer, a blogger, a marketing executive, an accountant, a social networking fiend amongst other things.

I, like every other author I know, have a morning marketing ritual that I follow every day of the week. So I guess, in short, my answer to your question is, my least favorite thing about writing is not having as much time to write as I'd like.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Hmmm. Interesting question. I'd be Rachel McAdams for one day while she was filming The Notebook with Ryan Gosling. No further explanation is necessary. LOL

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?

LOL. I LOVE this question! I don't even have to go look. About two years ago, I was browsing through the salad dressing section at the grocery store and came across a bottle of Raspberry Walnut dressing. Sounds good, right? WRONG.

I had big plans for that dressing. I was going to marinate some chicken in it and serve it to my husband. I could just hear him saying, "You've outdone yourself!"

Unfortunately, it was so bad when I tasted it that I just put it in the door of the refrigerator and tried to forget about it. I probably should have just thrown it away then, but I had never really eaten it and I thought that maybe one day in the future, I just might be brave enough to try it again.

That bottle of Raspberry Walnut dressing taunts me every time I open the fridge. Maybe it's finally past its date.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I currently have four books out.

Maggie Mae, a steamy contemporary romance with a ghostly paranormal twist.
Justice For Emily, a steamy romantic suspense with a ghostly paranormal twist.
A Brother's Love, a romantic suspense with some pretty cool psychic abilities relating to animals.
Soul Mates, a steamy paranormal (Magic)/Time Travel romance.

I currently have two books in the works:

Carley, a contemporary romance and sequel to my first book, Maggie Mae.
Till Death Us Do Part, a steamy romantic suspense.

Faelon by AJ Kelton‏

AJ Kelton are the dynamic writing team of Angel and Jordan. The couple met online several years ago on an Alexander fan site and have been friends ever since. Angel soon found that Jordan had a flare for storytelling with several half-finished stories on her computer. Angel encouraged Jordan to finish the stories and with help in creative description she decided to send the stories off to MLR press. They were both shocked and excited when they got the news that Faelon was accepted for publication. While Jordan may have a flare for storytelling she doesn’t enjoy the smaller details in getting a story ready for publication. That is where Angel comes in; she spends countless hours getting the story ready after line edits, going over each line in proofing and formatting, making decisions such as covers and fonts, all things that Jordan just has problems focusing on.

Angel is always on the lookout for her perfect mate, a cross between Ethan from Under the Australian Sky and Evan from Marco. Until Mr. Perfect appears at her door, or in front of her booth wanting an autograph she loves to read, take pictures and attend concerts of all kinds. She loves all things 80’s. Angel lives in Texas with her two dogs, Daisy a beagle who she insists is nothing like snoopy and her Chihuahua Bonita.

When not writing Jordan loves to read anything from Amish romance to the dark taboo books of fiction both M/M and Het. She is a very avid reader, except when writing because she doesn’t want to be influenced by what she is reading. Jordan loves to travel and often her latest vacation spots show up in his books. While Jordan is always looking for that perfect place to live at the moment she can be found in Kansas.

Both writers have solo projects coming out in the future, Angel with Misunderstandings under the name Angel Rothamel. Jordan with Legion under the name Rider Jacobs.

Both authors would love to hear from you. You can contact them via their web page AJKelton @AJKelton.com. You can also find them on Facebook under both AJ Kelton, Angel Rothamel and Rider Jacobs.

Who knew that loving a Nephilim could be so dangerous.

Faelon, a 3000-year-old nephilim, fleeing a demonic master, found safety with the church. He has repaid their kindness by translating various artifacts. Father Donovan has watched as Faelon became a recluse, fearing those who would harm him.

Jax, wanting a change, moves to Salem, MA where he finds work as a churches security guard. Not believing that Faelon is a nephilim, he is forced to confront his own beliefs in the supernatural.

Can he learn to accept Faelon, and be the master he requires? Or lose the man he loves to the demons who would harm him.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Angel: I was looking through my emails and came across an open call for submission. Jordan was at work, so I texted him asking if we had any ideas for holiday stories. When he went to break and saw the text, he replied with, not at the moment, but give me a little bit and I will see what I can come up with. His next break, he texted me back with the idea for Faelon.

Jordan: Actually Faelon started out a lot different than it is now. My original idea was for a vampire that could only drink fruit juice. When I was told my story wasn’t paranormal enough I decided to go a completely different direction. I made Faelon a nephilim, added in the twins and Delgorio and you have the story that made it to print version.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Angel: The original idea for Faelon didn’t take that long to write. But it kept growing and evolving and becoming what it is today.
Jordan: I had the basic concept for Faelon in about thirty minutes. The actual book I had written in about six weeks. Not all books come to me as fast but once I know where I want the story to go it usually doesn’t take me long to get it there.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Angel: Creating worlds and characters that I can get lost in. I put my characters through hell. I like to write stories that have real situations and that get down and gritty with emotional turmoil, angst, trauma and it shows the characters have to fight tooth and nail to get the happily ever after that they deserve.

I also absolutely love to hear the feedback from our readers. I have been brought to tears (in a good way) by some of the reviews and feedback that I have gotten, and that in itself makes the trial of writing worth it.

Jordan: The fans. Writing is fun in its own way. You do get to create a world and all the people in it, bring those people to life for those that read the book. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the characters in the book aren’t real people. When I’m at a convention or when someone friends me on Facebook and tells me how much they loved my book, how alive everyone seemed, to me that makes all the edits and the frustration worth it.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Angel: The editing. Sometimes things that I absolutely love about the story are either changed or removed and while I know the story is all the better for it, it breaks my heart that I have to take out what to me may be a vital scene or description.

Jordan: I love to tell the story, to bring everyone to life. What I don’t like is everything after that, which is why I have a writing partner. Line edits, concept edits and so forth are all things that I am forced to do but don’t want to do. I just want to write, to let the stars of my books have a voice.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Angel: hmm, this is a hard one. There are so many I could name, but then I don’t know if I would want to be a famous person so much as hang out with a famous person for a day. The problem would be that I would have to come back to myself and that would be too hard! Lol
Jordan: If I could be a famous person for a day who would I be? There are many people I have admired but to name one. I would choose either Alexander the Great or Spartacus. I’m a bit of a history freak and those two men changed the world as it was known at that time.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Angel: Oh wow, I had to look… The oldest thing in my fridge is an unopened jar of cherries from last Christmas.

Jordan: Well I tend to never eat left overs so my refrigerator really never has anything old in it. What is the oldest thing in there right now? I am guessing the mustard. I know, a bit of a bore there.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Angel: From AJ Kelton, we have Marco that we are going to begin promotions for in August. We are working on book 2 of the Slutty Cupid series as well as the second book in the Marco trilogy.

We also have solo projects. I write as Angel Rothamel and I have The Solstice that was released in January, and Misunderstandings the first in my SEALs of Cedar, Colorado series that is released May 24th. I have also submitted Handcuffs and Lace to my editor.

Jordan: I would like to point out that the “slutty cupid series” is a nickname that one of our fans gave Christian from Under the Australian Sky. In the future you can see book two of Faelon which is going to be called “Much Ado About Twins.” I’m also writing book two of the Love Across Time Series so fans of Christian can expect to be seeing him again soon.

I also have a solo project named Legion which will be out in June and I just submitted “Forgotten” to my editor so it could be out by the first of next year.

Giveaway is both an e-book and a print book (US shipping) at this site.

Aphanasian Stories by Rhonda Parrish‏

When she isn't being crafty, playing video games or procrastinating, Rhonda writes fantasy, YA and horror stories and poems. Also, she loves sushi.

http://www.rhondaparrish.com
https://twitter.com/RhondaParrish
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2651534.Rhonda_Parrish

Three of Rhonda Parrish’s beloved Aphanasian stories brought together in one collection for the first time!

A Love Story: Z’thandra, a swamp elf living with the Reptar, discovers a human near the village. When she falls in love with him, she faces the most difficult choice of her life, a decision that will affect the Reptar for generations.

Lost and Found: Xavier, the escaped subject of a madman’s experiments, and Colby, a young lady on a mission to save her brother, must combine their efforts to elude capture and recover the magical artifact that will save Colby’s brother before it’s too late.

Sister Margaret: A vampire hunter and a half-incubus swordsman are hired by a priestess to kill the undead pimp that is extorting, torturing and murdering vulnerable girls.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

Ooh, that's a tough question because this is actually a collection of three stories. I mean, it would be tricky anyway because each one of my stories (like most, I suspect) come from all sorts of different places. It's how the ideas combine together that makes them interesting 

Of the three stories Sister Margaret came first. I wrote it based on a prompt at the NaNoLJers community (http://nanoljers.livejournal.com/) which was to take a person we'd known in the past and imagine where they would be now. I did that but then transported that friend from the real world to the fictional world of Aphanasia. Then I added vampires.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I'm not 100% sure. Some of the stories were easier to write than others. Sister Margaret flowed for me from the beginning. I think it took me a day to write and then a couple more to revise. Lost and Found, however, took much longer. Not just because its length is greater, either. I had to revise that story over and over again. It's probably Colby's fault really. She and I have a bit of a love/hate relationship that makes it tricky to write stories with her in them (not that that stops me LOL). As for A Love Story, it falls in the middle somewhere. The revision process on that one was pretty painless and then words and story flowed pretty well, it just took longer than Sister Margaret because it is longer.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Sharing stories. I love getting characters and stories out of my brain and out into the world where other people can enjoy them too.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Writing. No really, I'm not just being bratty. I love making up stories but the actual process of sitting down and writing the first draft is torturous for me. It's a chore. At least to start. Once I get far enough in and the story takes on a life of its own, it's a pleasure and I love it, but in the beginning each word feels like pulling teeth. Without anesthetic.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Oh my. I don't know. I was so stumped on this one I asked my family who they would pick. My husband said he'd choose to be Johnny Depp… and then he'd give me a call. So, um, I would choose to let my husband be a famous person for one day instead of me. ;)

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
There is some 35mm film in there that has been there for so long I have no idea what the pictures are of. I really need to remember to take it to be developed one of these days but my memory is like a sieve and so far I haven't had much luck.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I'm always writing poetry and short stories and have several of each upcoming in various magazines and anthologies. I'm also going to be releasing a collection of my zombie poetry later on this year and I'm working on several different novel-length projects (waiting to see which one takes on that life of its own first and earns my undivided attention). The project that is taking up most of my attention these days, however, is Metastasis. That's an anthology which I'm editing which will be filled with speculative stories and poems with a cancer theme to them. (http://www.rhondaparrish.com/call-for-submissions-cancer-anthology)
