Resurrecting Harry by Constance Phillips‏

Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, two ready-to-leave-the-nest children, and four canine kids. Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff. When she's not writing about fairies, shifters, vamps, and guardian angels, she's working side-by-side with her husband in their hardwood flooring business.

Constance is actively involved in her local Romance Writers of America chapter (MVRWA) and the Southeast Michigan chapter of the United States Pony Club. When not writing or enjoying the outdoors, she loves reality television or can be found at a Rick Springfield concert (just look for the pink Converse high tops).

Can the greatest escape artist ever known break the grim reaper’s chains to save the only woman he’s ever loved?

In order to save Bess from self-destruction, Harry Houdini puts his afterlife on the line by entering a wager with purgatory’s keeper. He gives Harry a younger face and body, and a new name: Erich Welch.

Bess clings to his promise to deliver a coded message from beyond the grave, determined to provide the bridge for him to cross, even if that means befriending her husband's sworn enemy.

Erich needs to help Bess over her loss and put her on the road to healing, but will any good come from resurrecting Harry?

Book Trailer

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

It was a combination of things. One aspect was the base concept of an escape artist escaping the inescapable – death. The other aspect was the romantic element. I found the true history of Bess Houdini holding séances for her departed husband for ten years after his death both romantic and sad. I wanted a happy ending for these two.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
All in all, I worked on the book for about a year.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love creating characters, learning their stories and presenting them. In short, the first draft, or discovery draft. It’s all creative.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
My least favorite chore is the fine tuning of the final draft before submission. This is the point where I’m checking and rechecking every last detail grammatically and making sure every point and thread plays out and wraps up the way I want it to. For me, it’s like a big math problem, and I hate math.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Wow, this is a difficult question. Maybe I’m pragmatic, but when I think of a celebrity’s life I can see the negatives as well as the positives. I’m a really shy person and I would hate to my privacy invaded like you see on all the entertainment shows.

Also, I love what I do. So, I would still want to be a writer.

How about a Stephen King or a J K Rowling? That way I could still do what I love, writing, but experience what it is like at a higher level of success.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Ah! You should have me this question a few weeks ago. We just got a new refrigerator, which meant we did a major clean out. Now…the answer would be the bottle of tobacco sauce. It’s a few months old and almost got tossed.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Hopefully, a lot of good things. I’m hoping to have more books out in the same world as Fairyproof and Resurrecting Harry. I also hope to get two contemporary stories out this year.
