She is a half demon, oblivious to her true nature.

He is a demon set out to avenge murder.

Together they are hunted by the one person she thought she could trust.

Separate they may be able to save each others lives.

“Creatures of Fire” a tale about power, ambition, responsibility and trust.

New York – Paris – Dschinnanya (the world of the demons)

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

Before I started writing the story, I began to research mythical creatures. It didn’t take me long to come across fire demons, they fascinated and inspired me. And what is even better, they more or less told the story themselves, I only had to write it down :).

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Time is hard to measure when writing, also I have a day job, so sometimes one or two weeks may pass until I have the time to write again. I would guess that it took me about five months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
That I can create my own world.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Nothing, really. I even like re-writing and editing. What I hate is the waiting that comes once a novel is finished. Waiting for someone to buy it, to review it, to like it ... An author really needs a lot of patience.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Joanne K. Rowling, just so that I would know what it is like to be such a good writer.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
That would be a beetroot. I bought it before christmas because I thought I should eat more healthy food.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
The second part of the “Sariel Baldwin Series” and two ChickLit novels, once I have gotten around to translate them.

Bad Apple‏ by Barbara Morgenroth

Barbara was born in New York City and but now lives somewhere else. By now, she thinks of herself as a country girl and knows more about gardening and animals than how to ride the subway.

Starting her career by writing tweens and YA books, (and did the cover photography for her first two books published by Atheneum so continuing to do the covers to her ebooks is predictable), she was actually aiming at the small screen. Television seemed like the perfect place for her even if she had no clue how to get there. Life is funny and often presents opportunities. Advice--Grab Them! Through a neighbor, Barbara wound up getting an introduction to a lower honcho at ABC and an audition to write for them. Her hopes were more than dashed, they were disintegrated, evaporated, demolished when ABC couldn't find a place for Barbara on General Hospital. (No Luke and Laura in her future!) To ease the crushing disappointment, Barbara wrote “In Real Life I'm Just Kate” about a 17 year old girl who becomes a star on a soap opera. That became an open sesame moment and shortly thereafter Barbara became the last headwriter for NBC's daytime serial, The Doctors, where she was ordered by the network to kill Alec Baldwin, shooting him not once but twice. With two different guns. From different directions.

Ah, good times.

You can read the book that started Barbara’s television career as the Kindle YA ebook, “Just Kate”, now with a substantial tweak because living life made her smarter.

You can also read about some could-be-hers-could-be-rumors experiences gleaned during Barbara’s stint in daytime television in the Kindle romantic comedy, In Under My Head. Barbara is a recipient of a Writers Guild of America Best Writing Award for her work on One Life To Live.

Whether you're looking for a Mature YA or a romantic comedy, Barbara has a book for you!

“You tell and next time you won’t even be able to crawl away.”

Neal Marchal lived with this threat for the next eight years. When she finds her neighbor murdered, she knows who did it. The why is the secret the family has been keeping forever. The reminder to never reveal the secret is her limp.

She rebuilt her life and now Neal has everything to live for—music, performing and a growing affection for the young man who pulled her to safety.

Then Joe comes home. Neal knows Joe’s going to finish what he started 8 years ago because she told. But this time Neal vows the outcome will be different.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

A friend of mine was brutally murdered. You struggled trying to understand such a tragedy. Why did someone do this? What were the reasons this happened? It took me several years to put all the pieces together and when I finally did, I wanted to write about it.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took me several years and many rewrites. It’s a difficult book, for me and for some readers. I had to be precise and know what I was trying to say. This wasn’t the kind of book one writes in 6 weeks.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love telling stories and I love it even more when they’re appreciated. I love getting an email that says “I’ve read this book again and again.” I have one person who probably knows the series better than I do at the moment. I think she has it memorized!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Whatever takes me away from my work is guaranteed to make me quite grumpy.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I think I would have liked to be George Gershwin’s girlfriend. I know she wasn’t famous but to be in love with such a talented man, a genius of a musician, I think that would be a good way to spend one day. I think the day would have been Feb. 12, 1924 the day Rhapsody in Blue was first performed. That must have been one heck of a day.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have some white miso that should be ditched. I don’t think it goes bad but I’m tired of looking at it.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I just completed Bittersweet Farm 2—Joyful Spirit. My next book will be the final book in the Bad Apple series and it will be entitled Parked. I expect that will be published sometime this summer if everyone is very lucky. I tend to write quite slowly so it will definitely not be this spring.

Thank you for having the interview on your blog.

A fresh start...

It’s been three years since Serena King learned to say no—no to the boys that were a desperate cry for help, no to the extra weight she put on in self defense, and most of all no to the abuse that has haunted her since she was fifteen. Now a sophomore in college, all she wants is to be normal.  The last thing she expects is a guy who can make her want... make her want everything.

A new guy...

Alex Blackthorn is a bundle of contradictions, a sexy dark haired badness who goes slow... deliciously slow. And despite the iron will that has gotten her through the last few years, Serena finds herself unable to ignore the heat that sizzles between them whenever they’re together.

A dark past...

Serena never thought she could be involved in a relationship, but Alex makes her long for things she thought were out of her reach forever. When he finds out her secret... when he finds out what she did to keep herself sane... will he still want her, or he will treat her just like everyone else?

And Alex has a secret of his own.
Recommended for mature readers aged 17+ due to language and sexual content.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I’m not sure that any one thing inspired it. I was casting around for an idea for a new adult romance, and it just slowly grew.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took about two weeks to plot, then two weeks to draft. I write quite quickly.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love looking back over the finished product and thinking, “Wow, I wrote that!”

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Sometimes I’ll be on deadline, and the story isn’t coming. I have to push through, and it can be really, really, really hard.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I’ve always been fascinated with Grace Kelly, ever since I did a report on her in school, many many years ago. So I guess I would be here—I would just love to know what her life was life, a talented actress, a mother, a princess.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I think we have some salad dressing that expired in June 2012.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Definitely more new adult romances! Kaylee and Maddy will have their stories told, and then I plan to return to Serena and Alex. I don’t think I’m quite done with them!

Book Trailer

Q) What inspired you to write Montana Mustangs*?
I’m from Montana and I love the beautiful mountains and valleys of this wonderful state. When I was talking to my fans, several asked if I was ever going to write about where I live—and that was how the idea for Montana Mustangs was born.

*This was such a fun book to write.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
This book didn’t take long. I think it was start to finish it took about four months. I tend to write fast as I want to deliver as many great books to my readers/fans as possible. I want to make sure that my readers aren’t kept waiting. I know how it feels to wait on the next book in a series—it’s so frustrating!

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love the entire process. I like sitting in front of the computer wracking my brain and struggling to find the right words. Words are so real to me—I can feel them in my bones.

My absolute favorite part of writing Montana Mustangs was all of the research I had to do in order to write the book. I was so lucky. I had the honor of riding along with some of my police/sheriff officer friends. In addition to the ride-alongs I also had to go on horseback adventures into the high mountain lakes of mountain. I would like to say horseback riding was all for work, but I have to admit I was playing at the same time. Below is a picture of the lake we rode into for Montana Mustangs:

This particular lake lies at just over 7000 feet in elevation as usually has snow until late June. During the month we went, it was fire season and you can see the smoke (not clouds) in the background.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
I think every author could say the same thing, but there is always someone out there who doesn’t like your book for some reason. I put an incredible amount of effort and time into every step of the books I write—from research, to writing, and throughout the publishing process (which is long). To hear someone doesn’t like one of my books always bothers me. However, as a professional author I have learned to let go of the harsh criticisms that come with the business. It’s just like life—some will love you, some will hate you, but you just have to do the best that you can.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I think I would want to be Jane Austen—she was such an incredible woman during an incredible time.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Oh Geez. I think if you dug through it you would still find some hard-boiled Easter eggs (I don’t like eggs).

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I have a lot of books coming out in the future. The next book in the Nymph Series will be hitting shelves later this year tentatively entitled, Winter Swans. Also, all of the books in the Nymph Series will be coming out in paperback starting later this year. (They are slower to release than the e-books and they are more expensive.) If you like the e-book versions of the books (as many of my fans do) then you may be interested in picking up your paperback copies. (Let me know if you would be interested in a signed copy—I like to interact with my fans.)

After the release of Winter Swans, I’m hoping that there will be at least another two books in the works (I’m writing the outlines now).

I’m also thinking about publishing another series in the future.

Pembroke—Thank you so much for having me on your blog today! I appreciate the time you took in helping to make this all possible.

To the readers—Thank you for stopping by. If you have a question about Montana Mustangs, The Nymph Series, or anything else, please don’t hesitate in leaving a question in the comments box below. I will be stopping by sporadically to check things out! Thanks!

They say you can never go home. Well, Lacie Joe Jensen never wanted to.

Lacie Joe left small town Kentucky for the big city lights and never looked back. Until now. Her ailing foster-father needs her, his memory is failing. But townsfolk remember all too well the troubles Lacie Joe caused as a youth, and they're not afraid to remind her.

Lacie Joe has a few allies in town, for starters, ex-boyfriend turned police officer Jay Hayworth. Jay's kept the fire burning for Lacie during her long absence. He's one of the bright spots in Lacie's troublesome past, him and her truck, Big Orange. A suspicious accident forced Lacie Joe to leave town, Jay steps in to remind Lacie she no longer has the right to remain silent.

Hello! Thank you so much for hosting me today. It is my pleasure to meet you and your readers. Best of luck with all of your writing. The Brides and Dark Secrets is very intriguing!

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
For the Love of Big Orange was inspired by my strong belief that sometimes the key to helping yourself is through helping others. The heroine, Lacie Joe, has a long list of poor choices and turbulent childhood. She grew up in the foster-care system and was eventually taken in by a family in rural Kentucky. It’s there that she finds her forever home, but her past catches up with her and she makes some choices that seem irreversible.

Her story progresses and she discovers that the key to redemption and moving herself from being a victim to victor is by helping a group of kids who come from the same background as she, as well as her ailing foster-father and a man, Big Willie, who she wronged in the past.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The idea, characters and setting rattled around in my brain and made its way to sticky notes over the course of several months. When I finally buckled down and focused on writing the story, it took approximately three months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I enjoy the research part of writing the most. I love learning about a new topic that I may have previously been unfamiliar with. Some of the scenes within Big Orange take place at horseback riding stable, FiddleStix.

My grandfather was a handler and avid horse lover. His love of horses has been passed down through generations, including to my father. Through interviews with my Dad, I learned far more than I ever imagined about how horses are trained, cared-for and what can really spook a guide horse.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
All aspects of the actual craft of writing are truly fascinating to me. The marketing and promotion side is the biggest bear to me!

Keeping up with social media and advertising are all great places to meet and connect with Readers (which I love to do), but it can be a full-time job in and of itself.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have a bottle of Muscadine Grape Juice; it’s about two years old. I purchased it in the Smoky Mountains at a little roadside store that sells beef jerky and grape juice. What a combination! I’m waiting for a special event crack it open and share a toast with my family. Maybe when the Bluegrass Novella Series hits the charts;)

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m so glad you asked! For the Love of Big Orange is the first of the Bluegrass Novella Series. The second, To Have Mercy, will be released this summer. The third, Finding Justice, will release in early fall. I’m not sure yet if we’ll stop at three or continue. I’ll have to see what the characters have to say.

I’m also working on the second and third books in the Shady Oaks Novel series. Book one, The Prince at the Corner Bakery, is available now. Fifty-two Ways to Flirt and Fine by Moonlight will be the second and third books in the series.

My name is Arizona Darley and my mom did just that.

When Olivia decided to go back in time to find the one man she was destined to, she catapulted Arizona’s life into rollercoaster of confusion. Fusion is the highly anticipated conclusion to the Portal Chronicles, which began with the YA bestseller, Portal.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

This book is the fifth in a series, so the characters are strong in my imagination. I let them take over when I start writing. It’s like watching a movie. I am just the clumsy typist who tries to describe what I am seeing. The characters inspire and drive the story.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The first draft took just over two weeks. But then, of course, there are edits, beta reads and proofing. The whole process takes about three months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Not knowing what’s coming next. It’s like sitting down to view your favorite series on TV, watching the story unfold and surprise you.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Typing. I’ve never learned to type properly. I use the hunt-and-peck method.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I’d love to be Steven Spielberg. I’d love to be in the position to translate what I am seeing in my imagination into a visual medium.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
That has to be the strangest question I have been asked in a while. :D It’s probably the bottle of ketchup, but it’s not that old.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m working on the Bonfire Chronicles at the moment. The next book is titled Uprising, and it brings my two series together. Those of you who wondered what was going on in the other dimension will find out in Uprising. I’m also working on getting my books translated into German, French, Spanish, and Japanese.

The Penton Legacy by Susannah Sandlin‏

Susannah Sandlin is the author of paranormal romance set in the Deep South, where there are always things that go bump in the night. A journalist by day, Susannah grew up in Alabama reading the gothic novels of Susan Howatch and the horror fantasy of Stephen King. (Um…it is fantasy, right?) The bloody war between the Vampire Tribunal and the defiant scathe of Penton, Alabama, rages on, forcing its residents and their bonded humans to retreat into the underground fortress of last resort: Omega. There, Will Ludlam is charged with the care of Penton's humans, though he longs to fight alongside his vampire brethren. He knows the risks: as the renegade son of the Tribunal's vicious leader, Will's capture could doom the resistance.

Yet he is determined to prove his worth to his adopted scathe, to his vengeful father and to former US Army officer Randa Thomas, his beautiful, reluctant partner. Randa has little faith that a former member of the vampire elite has what it takes to fight a war. But as their enemies descend upon Omega, Will's polished charm and Randa's guarded heart finally give way to the warrior within.

Fans of Susannah Sandlin's Penton Legacy are sure to devour this long-awaited third installment of the steamy paranormal series.

With the vampire world on the brink of civil war over the scarcity of untainted human blood, battle lines are being drawn between the once peaceful vampire and human enclave of Penton, Alabama, and the powerful Vampire Tribunal.

A Scottish gallowglass warrior turned vampire in the early 17th century, Mirren Kincaid once served the Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner—a time when he was known as the Slayer. But when assigned a killing he found questionable, Mirren abandoned the Tribunal’s political machinations and disappeared—only to resurface two centuries later as the protector and second-in-command of Penton. Now the Tribunal wants him back on their side—or dead.

To break their rogue agent, they capture Glory Cummings, the descendant of a shaman, and send her to restore Mirren’s bloodthirsty nature. But instead of a monster, Glory sees a man burdened by the weight of his past. Could her magic touch—meant by the tribunal to bring out a violent killer—actually help Mirren break his bonds and discover the love he doesn’t believe he deserves?

It’s a town under siege, a powerful warrior in a battle with his past, and one woman who can make the earth move—literally—as the Penton Legacy continues.

Following a worldwide pandemic whose vaccine left human blood deadly to vampires, the vampire community is on the verge of starvation and panic. Some have fanned into rural areas, where the vaccine was less prevalent, and are taking unsuspecting humans as blood slaves. Others are simply starving, which for a vampire is worse than death—a raging hunger in a creature too weak to feed.

Immune to these struggles—at first—is Penton, a tiny community in rural Chambers County, Alabama, an abandoned cotton mill town that has been repopulated by charismatic vampire Aidan Murphy, his scathe of 50 vampires, and their willingly bonded humans. Aidan has recruited his people carefully, believing in a peaceful community where the humans are respected and the vampires retain a bit of their humanity.

But an unresolved family feud and the paranoia of the Vampire Tribunal descend on Penton in the form of Aidan’s brother, Owen Murphy. Owen has been issued a death warrant that can only be commuted if he destroys Penton—and Aidan, against whom he’s held a grudge since both were turned vampire in 17th-century Ireland. Owen begins a systematic attack on the town, first killing its doctor, then attacking one of Aidan’s own human familiars

To protect his people, Aidan is forced to go against his principles and kidnap an unvaccinated human doctor—and finds himself falling in love for the first time since the death of his wife in Ireland centuries ago.

Dr. Krystal Harris, forced into a world she never knew existed, must face up to her own abusive past to learn if the feelings she’s developing for her kidnapper are real—or just a warped, supernatural kind of Stockholm Syndrome in which she’s allowing herself to become a victim yet again.

Susannah Sandlin’s REDEMPTION is the first in the Penton Legacy series. Book two, ABSOLUTION, will be out September 18, and book three, OMEGA, on December 18.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

It was sort of a “perfect storm” of ideas and coincidences. From a writing standpoint, I’d been wanting to try a big, overarching story that would span multiple books, written from multiple points of view. I also wanted to write vampires, even though everybody told me not to do it—you know, because vampires are dead (ha). This was back in 2010 or 2011, when the H1N1 “swine flu” virus was spreading, people were dying from it, and I caught it before the vaccine became available. While in my fevered state, I came up with the idea of a vaccine that changed human blood chemistry enough to make our blood poisonous to vampires. And from that the whole Penton series was born. You never know where those ideas are going to come from!

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The first book in the series, REDEMPTION, took over a year, which is really unusual for me. I wrote it in about two months, realized it didn’t work, then completely deconstructed it and spent a long time putting it back together. I got discouraged with it for a while and set it aside while I worked on other projects. When I sold the series, I didn’t have that luxury with the second and third books, ABSOLUTION and OMEGA. I write ABSOLUTION in about four months and OMEGA in a frenzied ten weeks.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
With this series, it was really creating heroes and heroines with baggage and taking them through a sometimes painful emotional journey. Each book has a different couple that takes center stage. Aidan (Redemption) is struggling to forgive himself for something that happened centuries ago in Ireland just after he was turned vampire, and Krys helps him realize that the past isn’t destined to repeat itself. Mirren (Absolution) has a brutal past as a Scottish mercenary and questionable social skills, and since everyone’s afraid of him anyway he thinks that’s the way it has to be. But Glory isn’t afraid of him and is able to bring out something in him no one else could see. In Omega, Will has been brought up to believe he’s worthless so he puts up walls to keep everyone away, but when he meets a woman who copes they same way he does, they figure out a way to let down their guard.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
With this series, it was trying to find that perfect balance between the overarching story line, which has a lot of moving parts and a lot of action, and the romance, which by definition needs some quiet moments. Most paranormal romances are about 70 percent romance and 30 percent plot; I’d say this series is more like 60-40 or even 55-45. So I had to find a way to make sure the quiet romantic parts worked in the context of the bigger, action-laced story. Which is how Will and Randa in Omega, for example, have one of their most intense romantic moments while buried under a pile of rubble after an explosion!

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
LOL, I’ve already talked about the beer my brother left at my house last year, so the next-oldest is….(going to check)…oops—a jar of horseradish that is probably older than the beer. It’s too hot to go bad. I like to make my own cocktail sauce instead of using the bottled stuff—a leftover habit from living in New Orleans, where no self-respecting restaurant would serve bottled sauce. They give you ketchup, a jar of horseradish, a bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce or Tabasco, and a saucer to mix your own.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Well, Storm Force, a loose spinoff of the Penton series (totally different characters) is out now as a serial and will be available as a regular novel on June 28. Elysian Fields, the third book in my Sentinels of New Orleans urban fantasy series (written as Suzanne Johnson) will be out on August 13. I hope to do another Penton Legacy story later in the year.

Hidden Depths by Aubrianna Hunter‏

I am often asked; who is Aubrianna Hunter? And the truth is the answer isn't a simple one. Beyond being a dedicated wife and mother, I was raised by a Marine, and married into the Navy.

Needless to say I can go toe to toe with the most sarcastic people you have met, and can dish insults and curse with the best of them. I blurt wildly inappropriate things at precisely the moment when the room goes quiet, so much so that my co-author has nicknamed me Ted... Yes... After the bear in the movie.

Recently my husband has replaced calling me crazy with calling me "Creative", but the tone he uses to do it makes me question his sincerity. Though honestly, crazy is probably closer to reality. I like my hectic life, in fact I thrive in the chaos and would have it no other way.

She is pierced, dyed and tattooed born on the wrong side of the tracks. He is a traditional white knight born of the proverbial silver spoon. Their meeting was an accident, the fact that they became even the most tentative of friends, an anomaly. The only real thing they had in common... chemistry. Lots of chemistry. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough and Gia knew it. Now, if only she could convince her body...

Josh had always walked the line, lived the life he was expected to live. He had, by all accounts, the perfect life; a corporate lawyer, a beautiful home, a family empire to run, and the perfect fiancee. He was well on his way. The only question he had... was that really where he wanted to go? Plagued by dreams, Josh fought all his natural instincts, denying not only what he truly wanted but who he was deep down inside. Until one crazy night when he gave in to his desires...

Could these two polar opposites have more in common than even they realize?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

Gia - I could totally picture this strong, stubborn, totally socially defiant woman and I just had to tell her story.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
A couple of months. Once I actually started writing anyway. I thought about it for a couple months before that.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
This is such a hard question! I've been asked this a lot, an it changes depending on the day and my mood honestly. Sometimes it's the ability to be a different person for a while. At least on paper. Sometimes it's the ability to share my stories. Sometimes it's simply having a place to dump all the chaos in my head.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Editing... isn't that every author's least favorite thing?? LOL

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Bette Midler... A chance to have her memories, to see from the inside what her life has been like. What an amazing life to have had. Plus, I absolutely cannot sing. I would spend the whole day singing, just because I could.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Olives... pimento stuffed olives. Like a year or so old. I keep trying to throw them out but my husband swears they are still good.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A lot more smut! LOL... Apparently, the steamier the better, so I will let my inner slut come out to play more often.

Someone is setting death-spells targeting mortals and elf blood alike. With her mentor out of commission, it’s up to half-trained Warder Mona Lisa Kubrek to stop the magic. Despite being told repeatedly her job is to nullify spells and not go after the source, too many people are at risk for her to not track the spell-caster down. Even meeting a sexy half-elf shifter won’t distract her from her goal.

Except Cart Dupree is fully trained and has the team to search for the evildoer, so she’d be stupid to not use his expertise. Stupid is something she can’t afford to be, not with her enemy’s henchmen after her. Later she’ll deal with Cart and his questions about her special abilities and the non-standard training her mentor has given her. Right now, they need to unravel where the magician is, and who he is, before he builds enough power to decimate them all.

First, though, they need to stay alive.
Thank you so much for having me come visit, I'm very excited to be here today!

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
You know how sometimes you angle your chair so the glare of the sun isn't hitting your face and making you squint? Several years ago I had a story idea pop into mind where woman was sitting in a recliner that was angled so she would be sitting smack dab in the middle of the light coming in her windows from a weak winter sun. I wondered why was she sitting there. Well, it was because she was tired and the sun reenergized her. But then she heard something, something on the radio and she had to get up and act. The woman's story (Tania for those of you who have read A Matter of Fate) along with a couple of other story ideas I had been playing around with, developed into a novel featuring the world you see in A Matter of Fate. But the Tania's story was too cumbersome, too filled with backstory and information dumps as I developed the world to work. With a daunting amount of editing facing me, I thought, what if I write a story about the same events but from another perspective? A Matter of Fate is that story.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Years. First, as I said above, I wrote the entire story out form a different perspective while developing the world – the magic and the mythos a lot of stuff which is only a line or two here and there but I needed to know it so it would be consistent. Then, facing massive revisions, I decided to rewrite it from Mona's perspective. And, with other stories clamoring for attention and real life throwing me curveballs, it took several years for A Matter of Fate to come to fruition. The good news is now that I have a lot of the world set in my head, the next stories are going much more quickly!

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Embarrassing my characters. It is so much fun to put them in awkward and uncomfortable places. Mona in particular is a bit clueless about men, and the extent of Cart's attraction to her, so there were several times I took advantage of this.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Wrapping up a story. I get very attached to my characters and sometimes it's hard to end the story and let them go.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I'd be Eleanor Roosevelt because of her wonderful, self-depreciating sense of humor and her sense of justice.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have a shank bone I store and pull out every year. I had to replace it semi-recently when my fridge died so it's only three years old. The one I replaced was six years old.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I'm getting ready to submit a follow-up book to Crimson Romance. The working title is Buffalo Gal, but I'm very sure that name will change!

Book Trailer

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

My sister, Dusti, inspired me. When I sat down to write my first book ‘To Tame a Montana Heart’, I decided I wanted my heroine to be my sister. She is so completely innocent, yet extremely clumsy, that it makes her charming. Many of the accidents from the book were spin offs of real accidents she has had in life. It makes for a funny read.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Since this was my first book, it took me two years to write. Now that I know the in-and-outs, I can write a book much faster.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love to see how the story unfolds. It’s always a surprise to me what my characters do. They don’t always behave the way I wish they would.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Usually I would say editing, but right now I’m actually enjoying doing my edits for my upcoming release, ‘Big Sky Brazen’.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I think I would be Linda Lael Miller. She is one of my favorite authors. I’d love to see how she goes about her business of writing.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Lol. Funny question. I’d have to say some old chip dip, and It’s not very old because I just cleaned out my fridge a month ago…so probably a month old.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I have a few things going on at this time. Later this year I will have two paperback books released – the second book in my Montana Girl Series, ‘Big Sky Brazen’, and an anthology of my Lighthouse Series books (currently available as epublished short stories).

In addition to my blog tour and virtual book signing I am currently doing. I am working on three books -- the third in the Montana Girl Series, another western historical, and a paranormal.

Behind the Mysts, hidden from Mortal eyes, is a land where Gods and creatures of myth and legend dwell. And in the Mortal Realm, their Princess lives.

Quinn Sinclair is clueless to who she is. She thinks she's an ordinary young woman—well, mostly ordinary—living an ordinary life with her less than loving mother in Conifer, Colorado. On the night of her birthday, Quinn finds herself betrayed by a man who sends her life spinning out-of-control.

As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she finds herself transported into a Magykal battle forever changing her life.

Arik Morgaine—demi-god bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn Sinclair for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers. Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks, or will powers beyond their control destroy them and their world forever?

Thank you to Pembroke for having me.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I was recovering from surgery and was bored. I'd never written for fun before, but with nothing else to do, I sat down and started writing about an old memory. Eventually, the memory morphed into a story, and that story evolved into Colour Wielders.

Q) How long did it take you to write?

I started this about four years ago. It's gone through many iterations. At one point, I was at the end and decided to scrap it, and start over.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is visualization. Many times before I go to sleep, or when I'm in the shower, I imagine scenes in my head. It's like watching a movie. Then I put what I see on paper and let the characters take over. More times that not, they have their own agenda I don't even know about.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The amount of time I have to spend not writing. Promotion is essential. I just wish it didn't take so much time.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Hmm, that's a good question. I'd like to be J.K. Rowling so I can see what it feels like to be a successful writer.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Haha. Well since we just moved to San Antonio from Albuquerque, New Mexico a little over two months ago, I'd have to say the bottles of beer we brought with us. I have no idea how old it is.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I plan to have book two of the Heirs of the Magykal Realm, entitled Severed Colours, out before the end of the year. I also have an idea for a stand alone paranormal romance which could be expanded into a series. I'd like to have that out early 2014. And it possible that two subsidiary characters may get their own standalone novella.

Thank you to Pembroke

Because love can happen anywhere . . .

Even in New Jersey!

A beautiful morning in early spring. What could possibly go wrong?

Just returned from a buying trip in England, Kate French was jet-lagged and exhausted and running on fumes. She was already running late for an appointment but a wave of dizziness forced her to pull into the shopping mall parking lot in search of a quick fix of caffeine and protein.

When the pain first hit, she ignored it and continued racing across the parking lot toward the food court. But within moments she realized something was terribly wrong as her wobbly legs gave out and she dropped to the ground. The last thing she remembered as she started to fade away was the guy in the Grateful Dead T-shirt who held her in his arms and promised he'd never let her go.

Mark Kerry didn't think of himself as a hero but the story of a Good Samaritan who had saved a woman's life in the parking lot of the Princeton Promenade was attaining the status of suburban legend. Determined to return a stack of documents that had been left behind when the ambulance swept her away, he called in some favors and tracked her down at home one week later.

The moment Kate saw him again, the world and everyone in it disappeared. She knew his voice, the smell of his skin, the way his hands felt against her skin, the taste of his mouth, everything that mattered. All the things she would ever need to know about him.

And then she took another look . . .

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

A number of things, including a conversation with my BFF about the expiration date on wearing lacy thongs. (If there isn't one, maybe there should be.) When you take a no-nonsense kind of woman and introduce her to Victoria's Secret, anything can happen and probably will.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
About eight weeks, give or take. This was one of those rare books that almost wrote itself. Sitting down at the laptop each day was a joy. I understood my characters from the beginning and let their story flow through me.

I wish more books were like that.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The excitement of starting a new story, meeting new characters, trying their lives on for size. It's exhilarating.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The midpoint of a book where I literally can't see the forest for the trees. It's like driving a car on a moonless night without headlights down a road without guardrails and yawning canyons on either side.

Not that I exaggerate or anything . . .

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Robert Mueller, the head of the FBI. I want to know =all= the secrets there are to know.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Some very strange mustard with a label written in a language I can't identify. The smell is indescribable. The color borders on monkey vomit. The real question is why haven't I thrown it out??

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
More Sugar Maple books, more affordable ebooks from my backlist, and my first audiobooks!

Storm Force by Susannah Sandlin‏

Susannah Sandlin is the author of paranormal romance set in the Deep South, where there are always things that go bump in the night. A journalist by day, Susannah grew up in Alabama reading the gothic novels of Susan Howatch and the horror fantasy of Stephen King. (Um…it is fantasy, right?) The combination of Howatch and King probably explains a lot. Currently a resident of Auburn, Alabama, Susannah has also lived in Illinois, Texas, California, and Louisiana.

As leader of the elite counter-terrorism team Omega Force, former army ranger Jack “Kell” Kellison is always focused on getting the job done. So when a Houston high-rise is bombed and the governor killed or missing, Kell’s mission is clear: infiltrate the group suspected of the bombing and neutralize the threat by any means necessary. But once Kell meets beautiful chief suspect Mori Chastaine, he realizes there’s more to this case than meets the eye. And more to Mori than any man—any human man—could imagine.

Mori Chastaine is running out of options. Suspected for a crime she didn’t commit, forced into a marriage she doesn’t want, she sees no escape—until Kell walks through her door. A lifetime hiding her true nature warns her Kell might not be who he seems. But he could be the only one able to help save more innocent humans from becoming pawns in an ancient paranormal power play. If Mori reveals her secret, will Kell join her fight? Or will she become his next target?

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

I’d been toying around for a while with the idea of the Omega Force, a combined human-paranormal team that would investigate domestic terrorism cases. Very secretive, very last-resort, operating under the radar of law enforcement, quasi-military. I wanted to explore the ways my three human team members—all Army Rangers—would interact with the three shapeshifter team members. There are brothers who are big-cat shifters and a tiny little woman with a mouth like a chainsaw who’s an eagle-shifter (named Robin, no less). So the story is a high-suspense thriller, but also a very emotional story about a soldier who’s trying to prove he still has what it takes to go on active duty and a woman, the key suspect, who is in such a deep world of paranormal trouble it’s going to be hard to save her.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Storm Force is being released first as a serial novel. So for $1.99, people subscribe to it for their Kindle or the free Kindle app and every week, a new four-chapter “episode” is released. (If they subscribe today, they’ll get all the episodes that are out so far, which is five, and the rest will automatically download at no cost as they’re released.) So I’m still writing it as people are reading it—it’s probably as close as you’ll get to being inside the author’s head (kind of scary!). I have two episodes, or about eight chapters, left to write. Then the whole book will be available as a regular print, digital or audiobook on June 18. By the time I’m finished, the actual writing will have taken eight weeks. I’m a pretty fast writer, but that’s a crazy pace, even for me!

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Getting lost in the story and losing track of time. It’s an amazing thing just to get in this groove where the words are flowing, then to go back a while later and barely even remember writing the words because they poured out of some unconscious part of the brain. Unlike a lot of authors, I also really like doing revisions. Without deadlines, I’d probably revise the same novel over and over forever.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The feeling I get about a day after I’ve turned a final manuscript over to my editor. I’m elated to have the book finished, and I’m usually exhausted because I’ve pushed a really tight deadline. But after about 24 or 48 hours, I start getting restless. I’ll stay restless until I find another project to focus on. So it’s a good thing if I have something lined up to work on when one book is turned in.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Hm...I can’t think of anyone. I’m not really cut out for fame. I’m pretty private and reserved, and wouldn’t deal with the loss of privacy very well (this might surprise some people who only know me from my online personae!). If I could have a skill, it would be the ability to write songs, because I love music and have absolutely no talent at it.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Ha—I had to go and look. It’s five cans of Coors that my brother bought last year when he was visiting and only drank one. I don’t drink beer, so I figure at some point he’ll come back and have it waiting. Does beer have an expiration date? Too bad he couldn’t have bought Limoncello or Midori.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Well, Storm Force is out now as a serial and will be available as a regular novel on June 28. Elysian Fields, the third book in my Sentinels of New Orleans urban fantasy series (written as Suzanne Johnson) will be out on August 13. I hope to do another Omega Force novel to follow up on Storm Force, as well as another book in my Penton Legacy vampire series. And I want to put together and submit a couple of proposals for new projects. That should keep me busy this year!

But despite the safety and love Samantha feels when she's with him, she soon discovers that the good detective is a tormented man, haunted by ghosts and memories that he can't forget. But when it becomes clear that Samantha's mugging was only the beginning of her trouble, can Pierce find a way to quiet the demons that threaten to consume him in order to keep her safe, or will he allow his tortured past to destroy them both?

With heavy doses of romance, eroticism and heart, the Pierced Trilogy is a sweet tale of finding love, overcoming your past, and learning to hope for the future.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?

I was talking to my husband one night about what would happen if a wealthy young woman fell in love with a blue collar, working-class man – like a police officer. It's a concept that I've always been interested in because we hear all these studies about how men desire to be the bread winner and how they feel intimidated if a woman makes more money than they do. Plus, I keep reading stories where the hero is always some wealthy, corporate tycoon and the woman is the one that comes from nothing, and I just wanted to switch that up a little.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The entire trilogy took me about four months to write. And then, of course, came the endless editing, revisions and tweaking which took forever.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is that I can do absolutely anything, go anywhere, create whatever world my imagination can dream up. I can literally build the perfect man! The only problem is that he exists solely in my fictional world.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Writer's block is certainly no fun. And it can be so isolating because no one understands, unless they're writers themselves.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I'm a huge General Hospital fan, and I was a also a big fan of One Life to Live and of Port Charles back in the day, so I'm just going to be completely honest and say that I'd want to be Kelly Monaco. Just so that I could be close to Michael Easton for a few hours. I love that man! In fact, if you pay close attention to Detective Joshua Pierce's physical appearance in Pierced By Danger – even down to his soft, deep voice – you might notice a big resemblance to Mr. Easton.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I know there's an old jar of cole slaw dressing that's been in there for probably about two months or so. That's embarrassing to admit. I'm going to go throw that out right now.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
More romance. I love a good love story, whether I'm reading it or writing it, and that's what you can expect from me.
